In a philosophy course I took the professor selected a student to go to the front of the class. The professor would then insult the student and ask the student to respond.

The object of the lesson was to have the student respond rationally to the comment without letting his anger get the better of him.

The professor would then deconstruct the insult logically to show students how to respond to offensive remarks.

I always thought the best way to respond to offensive remarks was either a right cross to the chin, or a left hook to the jaw or a kick in the nads but I’m ‘’old school’’.
