Looked up Gifford’s Daughter, they are her stepdaughters. Pretty wild scandal on line claiming sex w a high school coach, who then killed himself.

Yup. Dog parks where a whole lot of butt sniffin’ goes on always looked to me like a place just waiting for an accident. I guess the radical left wing extremist demokkkrat scumbags can’t/don’t/won’t understand the alpha/beta facts of life. The former naval officer/astronaut mark kelley-giffords and his daughter should be banned from owning dogs. If that dog (which appears aggresive) were to sense weakness (say Gabby) and attacked, what would mark kelly-giffords do then? Still think they should be charged for the offense as someone else said about the “Marine Animal Protection Act”. (A lot of Marines I’ve known are animals. God bless ‘em. Semper Fi(do). LOL!)

Ok, article says the dog was an American Bulldog.. comments here say it was a Pit Bull. What is, or is there any, difference?

An American Bulldog is not an assault dog, the pit bull is.

Thanks, we were told our dog was part American Bulldog. I wasn’t sure what the difference was.

So its ok if their dog attacks a sea lion, but I’ve read of others getting cited or having their dogs taken away by animal control for the same type of attack.

Too bad nobody had a Glock handy in a beach bag to stop that Pitbull being a menace to everyone on the beach.
Decent people have actual good uses for this pistol, not just democrat dope smoking anarchists at Arizona shopping malls.

If my leashed, 70+ pound dog got away from me, “ran off” and did anything nefarious at all, I would be facing a fine-big enough to affect a months’ worth of bills-and I’m talking about hiking trails in the woods, not a public beach. If you can’t control the dog on the leash, don’t walk the damn dog outside your property...

Sea lion hatred is so ingrained in these people.

Just more of the ugliness of pinnipedophobia.

We need a ribbon and an NFL awareness week.

The article says the dog was an American Bulldog, they are a completely different breed from pit bulls.

How about that nice woman who takes tourists out to photograph the whales. She was caught feeding one, and get her boat a bit too close to another. So the full force and fury of the federal government has prosecuted her.

http://www.mnn.com/earth-matters/animals/stories/marine-biologist-nancy-black-pleads-not-guilty-to-illegally-feeding-ki

And she is a marine biologist. But a philandering astronaut who hooked up with the congressfool wife on a trip to China can apparently let his pitbull gnaw on a seal, and thats cool. Got it.

I appreciate your sense of irony-it was a Bulldog not an American Pitbull Terrier-but no matter-even a Chihuahua out of control is not acceptable in a public place, especially not attacking other visitors or resident wildlife.

“I wonder how that would have worked out for Joe Citizen?”

It would have worked out to a $250,000 fine ...

New bumper sticker in the making...

Gabby Gifford’s dog has killed more sea lions than my gun. Impose dog control!

Or something to that effect.

WHile the careful sensibilities of the AKC world can explain a difference, watch the video. Every witness on the beach would describe it as “the pitbull was running wild and attacking”.

To the people on the beach, (and the seal) the difference between the two is at best,,,academic.

According to some, sea lion tastes terrible and cougars are stringy and tough. I’ll stick with cattle for my BBQs.

But you’re right. If anyone else didnt control their dog of any breed in public, or if the dog atatcked wildlife, they would be in huge trouble. ANd would face fines upwards of 100k if it attacked a marine mammal.

You are correct-”Pitbull” was originally a term used to refer to any bulldog-type breed used in the cruel sport of fighting just about anything in a pit/ring. It now mostly refers to an American Pit Bullterrier, or Staffordshire Terrier. American Bulldogs are a larger dog and has a calmer temperament than terriers.

If you go there next week, you'd be subject to the following rules:

According to the Montage's website, you could bring a dog weighing up to 45 lbs:

http://www.montagelagunabeach.com/laguna-beach-pet-friendly-hotels.php

Kelly's killer dog weighed 65 lbs:

http://lagunabeach.patch.com/articles/dog-attacks-sea-lion#youtube_video-13790233

You would be required to keep your dog on a leash at the beach in Laguna:

“No matter what time of year, dogs must be on a leash at all times (six feet or shorter).”

http://www.lagunabeachinfo.com/plan-your-trip/pet-friendly/

Apparently, it's okay that Kelly didn't feel the need to follow that rule. You or I would definitely be cited for whatever local, State, and Federal charges the authorities wanted to press.

Oh, and the stay at the resort would run at least $600 per night.
