A session of the New York City Council had descended into chaos, and lawmakers were openly questioning her leadership. Ms. Quinn, the Council speaker, decided there was one person to blame: Betsy Gotbaum, then the citys public advocate, who had been presiding.
The response was sudden and fierce. Ms. Quinn summoned Ms. Gotbaum to an office nearby and, with little warning, began shouting at her in increasingly angry tones about appearing weak in front of other lawmakers.
You were like Bambi in there! Ms. Quinn exclaimed, slamming her hand on a table for emphasis, according to Ms. Gotbaum, who was on crutches at the time.
Ms. Gotbaum was stunned. I didnt merit that kind of unprofessional behavior, she said recently.
As she pursues a high-profile bid for mayor, Ms. Quinn, a Democrat, has proudly promoted her boisterous personality, hoping that voters will embrace her blend of brashness and personal charm.
But in private, friends and colleagues say, another Ms. Quinn can emerge: controlling, temperamental and surprisingly volatile, with a habit of hair-trigger eruptions of unchecked, face-to-face wrath.
She has threatened, repeatedly, to slice off the private parts of those who cross her.
She is sensitive to slights: When a Queens councilwoman neglected to credit Ms. Quinn in a news release, the speaker retaliated by cutting money for programs in her district.
Ms. Quinns staff, concerned that angry tirades could be overheard by outsiders, added soundproofing to her City Hall office. Wary of her temper, they are known to ask one another: Did she throw up on you today?
Ms. Quinn is by no means the first hotheaded politician in New York Fiorello H. La Guardia and Rudolph W. Giuliani, both former mayors, were famed for their outbursts.

well well well
an angry controlling bull dyke with no tact or manners and a hair trigger temper, just what NYC needs for a MAYOR
Now we know who is the husband in the Quinn-Nixon marriage
Those poor children
Decadence rules in the Age of Obama.
I’ve had more than one boss who mistook a display of vile temper for leadership. I’ve come to the conclusion that “loosing” your temper, or any temper display has no place in leadership; at least in the professional world.
From real bad to horrible?
According to Wikipedia she's "married" to a Kim Catullo. And, judging by the pic below Quinn is the "girl" and Kim is the "man of the house". Sounds more like Quinn is attacking this poor woman (Gotbaum) because she can be dominant over her where at home she's the one being dominated.
Just a guess.
I’m just wondering why the NYT is trying to blow her up, and who is their preferred candidate. They’re not ones to sabotage a dutifully Marxist, sexually perverse candidate simply because she’s psychologically unstable and would be a disaster as mayorette of New York. Is she so bad that they’re afraid she’d lose the election? Or is some pet real-estate interest of the Times’s ruling family, the Sulzbergers, at risk if the fat, weird creature takes over?
oh my bad, Nixons “spouse” is Christine Marinoni, a local political figure (school board?)
Even Alec Baldwuin can’t stand the she-he
If Quinn is the girl we know what she is envying when she threatens to cut off peoples’ private parts
And just as an aside she is a lesbian too. Some definite anger issues here....
Sounds like this dyke bully needs a good ass-kicking...
Just a comment-—
it has become social suicide to be angry about anything, we are supposed to stay “cool” no matter if someone steals our spouse, our bank account or our country because it ain’t cool to “throw up on” (be upset and angry at) others for being depraved, weak idiots. I, for one, don’t understand it.
And liberals want MORE people in the government controlling their lives...
?......I wonder what the initial in her middle name stands for
How did Ms Quinn miss being appointed by El Bozo? She sounds like a prime candidate for a cabinet post.,,,which the GOP Bambis would be sure to approve.
Life of Comfort and Pain Ends in an Airport Cell
Perhaps the NYT has buyer's remorse.
