My 14 year old son talks about joining the military. For the first time, my heart sinks because I know this president do not have our military’s backs. When I read stuff like this, I don’t want him anywhere near the military. In his eyes, both his grandfathers and his dad were all military men. Should I let him know my fears or just let him dream his big dreams? Who knows...maybe he is born for this. He has leader qualities. But the country he wants to serve is NOT the same country we knew growing up. Thoughts??

I no longer advise people to join the military for reasons you have given. If he is 14, you can perhaps hope that things will be better by the time he is 18, although I would say that is a hail Mary pass at this point.

Consider the US Coast Guard.

Think about it this way. It’s better to have people who want to be in the military for patriotic reasons. I am from a military family even though we skipped Vietnam & Korea. The only branch not represented is the Marines.

I still encourage young men and women to serve. The military’s day to day operation is still carried out by the ones in uniform.

let him dream. Four years is a long time and he’ll know what to do. He’ll know better what to do after he’s been allowed to dream and be imaginative.

Speaking as a former Army Recruiter, I would NOT encourage anyone to enlist in today’s climate of Socialism. The military we grew up in has been “fundamentally transformed”, and so has the potential recruitment pool.

Bear in mind that the Coast Guard takes its orders from DHS.

I would absolutely NOT recommend he join this country’s military. By the time he’s of age, Hillary will be in the White House. She’ll be no better than the halfrican-in-chief is now.

The military is not the way it used to be. Chicks and fags on the front lines. Sensitivity training. Nation building in Islamic dumps. Almost all Generals are more like politicians than military men. I was only in the USAF, but I would not recommend anyone join the military now.

My son and I have discussed military service. One does not join up and fall behind a leader who is diametrically opposed to the values of the country. My son is patriotic, our leadership is not. To further the aims of despots and kleptocrats is not a good thing.

A leftist acquaintance and I were talking about the draft recently, and I said if you think my son is going to be placed in harm’s way for the policies you have supported while your (only child) daughter sits at home, you are sadly mistaken. The draft will be for everyone. If we are playing by leftist rules, then they apply everywhere.

Although I would not necessarily recommend it for similar reasons, kepp in mind the possibility of serving in a state military force. Thiis is NOT the National Guard or Air National Guard, which are branches of the Federal Reserves. There are a few states which have a state military and/or naval military force that is not a component of the Federal Reservee. They exist in part as a response to the state’s loss of its National guard when activated for Federal service. Members of these state military and naval forces may be exempt from being drafted or commissioned into Federal service. They are, however, subject to some of the same political influences as we see in the rest of American society today.

The military is still a good career, just tell him that sometimes a nincompoop is commander-in-chief

We need good people INSIDE the military to keep an eye on what goes on inside there.

If Obama is purging any Generals based on the fact that they would object to shooting US Civilians, and with the homosexual agenda in place (promoting ‘like minded’ to the top) there is some cause for concern, and need for good guys in there to try to stop it.

His alligence is to the Constitution, not the president.
