I am in support of killing the first three. As long as the strategic national defense components of DoE are preserved, I support cutting back the non-defense components.

RE: As long as the strategic national defense components of DoE are preserved

Why can’t we just close the DoE and move the defense components under the DoD umbrella?

The DOE is a piece of crap! I believe it was started back in the Carter administration.... that alone should be enough to kill it, including any so-called national defense components, which can be absorbed by the DOD without any added funding. While we are at it, I wish the entire remaining federal gubmint (State, DOJ, HUD, Commerce, Census, DOD - Pentagon staff), and the Exec branch & the corrupt judicial branch would all be instantly cut & laid off by 50%. And cut salaries across the board by 25% and cap retirement at 30% of the average of last 5 years of gubmint employment for the entire fed gubmint including elected officials, judiciary & POTUS & exec branch. Just cut the hell out of the bloated fed gubmint.

The DOE doesn’t have to be involved in National Defense. This is really a relic of the cold war and Eisenhower’s Atoms for Peace initiative. I am pretty no other country with nukes has them has their department of energy inovlved. Trust me, there isn’t any DOE reps on an SSBN.
