You might want to add this factoid to your discussion:

The first Surveyor-type satellite was launched in 1968. Every year since that date has marked a small, but measurable, increase in the percentage of the planet that was forested.

Perhaps, the Rain Forest is shrinking. But, if it is, the Taiga is going berserk.

We produce CO2, the trees appreciate it...and thence, indeed, they go forth and multiply.
