Rand Paul Up.

We don’t need new principles (commenting on Rubio’s “America still works”)

Amnesty, Wallace asks about his opposition to E-verify. He wants Border security first, vote on every year.

He’s not opposed to the data-base check, not eligible to vote not eligible for welfare. Wants govt to do it, not burden business.

On GOP getting hispanic vote by supporting amnesty, he want’s “Trust but Verify” program. Doesn’t trust any president to handle border security, wants Congress to deal with it every year

Wallace asking him about legalizing drugs. Prisons full of non-violent criminals. Doesn’t think drug abuse is a good thing.

Supreme Court on same-sex, Should SCOTUS strike down DOMA? Thinks states should have the right to decide the issue. DOMA provides protection for the states, make federal laws more neutral. Marriage should not be part of the tax code

On filibuster regarding drones, letter from Holder does president have authority to kill Americans on US soil? Drones killing people not engaged in combat. Americans corresponding with terrorists should get arrested and day in court, not blown up in a public setting.

Is there room for a presidential candidate who is to the left of Obama on some issues and on the right on other issues. (hinting at Paul candidacy)

Your plan would balance the budget in 5 years, it got 18 out of 100 votes, is it out of the mainstream?

He wants to be building bridges here in the US rather than Egypt and thinks the Senate is out of touch with the positions of the American people.

I have a similar problem with Paul now that I had with Rubio a few weeks ago:

Both are saying they want border security first. Either they are naive or they are in on the shell game. If they are sincere, the government could made strident efforts in securing the border with EXISTING laws.

Otherwise, based on history, just having the canard in new legislation means it will be sidelined at will in the future.

They say they will not support a bill that does not have 'securing the border' as the prime requirement. We'll see -- when the bill comes out of committee. I am betting both will vote for any bill giving amnesty that comes to the floor for a vote.

Rand Paul's plan is amnesty because it gives immediately those who entered illegally, committed ID theft, worked illegally, were guilty of tax evasion. etc. the right to stay and work here, the object of their crime.

E-Verfiy works and actually protects the emplpoyer. We must shut off the job magnet. Paul is uninformed about the immigration issue. And border security is only part of the problem. 40% of the 12 to 20 million illegal aliens entered this country legally and overstayed their visa.

He’s not opposed to the data-base check, not eligible to vote not eligible for welfare. Wants govt to do it, not burden business.

More silliness from Paul. We already have a data base and laws that are supposed to prevent illegal aliens from receiving federal benefits. The problem is one of enforcing existing laws. And what do you do with businesses that hire illegal aliens if you go on the assumption that all people in this country are here legally? It removes the businesses from all culpability.

Supporting amensty would get the GOP the Hispanic vote.

I wish all these politicians would find out how the illegals really do things. Birthright citizenship means they can put their children on every social program out there, and most of them do. Illegals are not allowed to get on the programs now, but are encouraged to enroll their citizen children- the cards and checks go to the illegal adults since the children are minors. So how do you keep them off welfare?

As to the voting issue, that is a state issue, my state is still trying to require ID to vote, without that of course illegals can and do vote.

Without E-verify there is no record of whether a business hires illegals or not so doing away with that will mean it is easier for businesses to hire illegals. Businesses can just say they "didn't know" if they are caught working illegals.

The Republican party is kidding itself about getting the Hispanic vote by supporting amnesty. Younger Hispanics, say under 60 do not have the desire to be Americans and each age group under 60 has less desire to assimilate and become Americans. They want the piece of paper giving them citizenship for the benefits but do not want to be Americans. Most have been brainwashed in schools in Mexico and parts of the US that Mexico actually owns the SW, and the US is responsible for all the problems in Mexico. Their loyalty is to Mexico, with or without citizenship and they are raised with socialistic ideals. How anyone could think all of this will translate into Hispanic votes for Republicans is beyond me. When politicians talk about Hispanics having conservative values, being religious, wanting to be Americans, they are talking about the illegals from Mexico years ago, not current. They are out of touch, most of today's illegals are liberals, not particularly religious and in fact Islam is a growing religion in Mexico.
