It started as a Scandinavian play, “The Four-Poster”, and became a Broadway musical titled, “I Do! I Do!”, starring Robert Preston and Mary Martin. The show covered fifty years of a marriage, and the songs were written by Tom Jones (not that one!) and Harvey Schmidt, authors of “The Fantasticks” and the song “Try to Remember”.

Ed Ames had been part of the Ames Brothers in the Fifties, and he was now acting on Fess Parker’s “Daniel Boone” series on NBC as an Indian due to his high cheekbones. But he never gave up his singing. This came in at #9.

Listen to his breath control as he paces himself on that high A at the end.
