FLINT, MI Matthew Dewayne Williams became Flint's record-setting 67th homicide victim in 2012 when he died five months after he was shot at a Flint gas station.
Williams was critically injured when he was shot Nov. 6 at a BP gas station at Clio Road and Myrtle Avenue.
Williams, 24, was taken to Hurley Medical Center in a personal vehicle. Flint police released his name to the media the next day.
Michigan State Police said Williams died earlier this month becoming Flints record-setting 67th homicide for 2012.
This stat is affirming that the gun violence in Flint is at a historic high, said Mayor Dayne Walling.
Flint tied its 2010 record with its 66th homicide on Dec. 30 when a man was found shot to death inside a car at Myrtle and Milbourne avenues.
When Flint had a then-record 66 homicides in 2010, it included five suspected homicides of convicted murderer Elias Abuelazam.
The 2010 statistics included victims from the serial stabber, Walling said. The gun violence in 2012 was way ahead of 2010. This is why there has to be federal and state action on illegal guns to curb violence.

Another democrat haven. Population down to 102,000 from 196,000 in 1960 and it still breaks the record. All that's left there is the airport, UM Flint, and Kettering.

Does Matthew get anything for breaking the record?

That one should fall under the category of serial killer or possible terrorist. Arab Israeli and another case of police looking for a white guy who ended up "not".

I worked with a guy (in Indiana) with that same last name.
I wonder if they are related?
Not a very common name in the US I’d think.

This stat is affirming that the gun violence in Flint is at a historic high, said Mayor Dayne Walling. It's not gang violence. It's not people violence. It's not thug violence. It's not black violence. It's not violent crime. Oh no. Can't be any of those. It must be....GUN violence! Yeah, that's the ticket. That's a meaningless phrase that let's me blame anything else but the cause!

67 murders per 106k people is a very high murder rate, indeed.

Here's the police sketch they were circulating.
And an actual photo of the guy.
He stabbed something like 18 people and killed 6 or 7 before being caught.

Is Flint one of Jennifer Granholm's "Cool Cities"?
To: Darren McCarty
Flint’s murder rate is alarming. Same with the murder rate in Detroit, New Orleans, East St. Louis, and Chicago of the past couple years. I wonder if there’s any common denominator why these areas have such a high murder rate.

If Deeeetroit is the rotten crotch of the state, Flint is the arsehole. Michigan is two nukes away from going red in every election.
