Obama turning to executive power to get what he wants

WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama came into office four years ago skeptical of pushing the power of the White House to the limit, especially if it appeared to be circumventing Congress.

Now, as he launches his second term, Obama has grown more comfortable wielding power to try to move his own agenda forward, particularly when a deeply fractured, often-hostile Congress gets in his way.

He’s done it with a package of tools, some of which date to George Washington and some invented in the modern era of an increasingly powerful presidency. And he’s done it with a frequency that belies his original campaign criticisms of predecessor George W. Bush, invites criticisms that he’s bypassing the checks and balances of Congress and the courts, and whets the appetite of liberal activists who want him to do even more to advance their goals.

Reading this one will just make you mad. What amazes me is this recurring notion that Obama 'tried so very hard to get along', but has now resorted to dictatorial means due to the intransigence of his opponents. From his signature 'stimulus' looting bill (Republicans sit in the back and don't drive) to czar appointments, to unilateral refusal to enforce DOMA, dropping the New Black Panther case, Fast and Furious to make a case for gun control, refusal to consult Congress for Libya, etc., I have seen him acting as a mafia don from the beginning.

But what do I know? I don't even listen to Chris Matthews!

Barry has shown us that there is a very thin line between being a president or a fascist dictator that can be easily crossed.

“President Barack Obama came into office four years ago skeptical of pushing the power of the White House to the limit, especially if it appeared to be circumventing Congress.”

Really? I don’t remember it that way. If that was the case it was only because the Dems controlled Congress then, and once that ended due to the 2010 midterm election slaughter — Obama reverted to his true character.
