Ohio School Shooter TJ Lane Gives Victims' Families the Finger at Sentencing By CHRISTINA NG | ABC News – 1 hr 12 mins ago

Ohio school shooter TJ Lane arrived at his sentencing hearing today wearing a blue button down shirt. After he sat down, he unbuttoned the shirt to reveal a white t-shirt with the word "killer" emblazoned across the front in black marker.

When Lane was given the opportunity to make a statement to the court, he made a short statement and then stuck his middle finger up in the courtroom filled with the loved ones of the three students he gunned down.

Lane, 18, smirked and smiled as family members of his victims called him "repulsive" and hoped for him to be locked up in a cage "like an animal" for the rest of his life.

"Frankly, I wasn't prepared for this," the prosecutor said moments after Lane's gesture. He said the action was proof that Lane is a "disgusting human being."

"This is confirming what we have known all along, that this was a cold, calculated, premeditated killing," the prosecutor said.

The judge sentenced Lane to life imprisonment without parole. Lane chuckled at the sentence.

Lane killed three students during a Feb. 27, 2012 rampage at Chardon High School. Daniel Parmertor, 16, Demetrius Hewlin, 16, and Russell King Jr., 17, were all killed. When he was captured a short time later he was wearing a grey shirt with the word "killer" written on the front.

Yes, you wrote about what should happen to his parents which I won’t repeat. Let’s focus only on the killer’s victims & leave the killer’s family out of this. Though you didn’t say this, with the defense lawyer Ira Freidman, he was doing his job.

The killer’s family is innocent, must be left alone & not even discussed. The killer’s a bad person & again, it’s sad that he turned out this way as his parents & family had hoped he would turn out to be a fine citizen but he ended up being a murderer. It’s best to only talk about the 3 victims he killed & the kid who ended up paralyzed in this shooting by the killer. & when we talk about this killer, it’s best to say that it’s sad some1 turned out this way. The killer must spend rest of his life in prison or had a jury decided to give him death penalty, then so be it, but we must also feel sad that he turned out this way. There are only losers & no winners here.

Went back through the thread and didn't find where I said anything about the killer's parents.

You'd best check that again.

I’m against sterilization surgeries. If it were up to me, it would be a crime to do vasectomies & tubals. I support birth control such as the Pill & condoms (Okay against the Catholic faith but this is where I differ with the Pope), but they must not allow sterilization surgeries, even if the patient wants it. Vasectomies are linked to cancer.

But staying with this topic, the killer should either have gotten life in prison which he did or the death penalty after a jury decides this was the right punishment. If the death penalty is to be given, then it must only be for worst case scenarios & a jury must decide. Hope that answers.

Sure, he's young ~ but the courts erred in imagining this type of murderer can be trusted.

The article noted that the crime was committed when Lane was 17 so the death penalty, which otherwise would have been richly deserved, was never an option.

I'm not defending this filth. Just noting what the state law said.

We know the USSC prohibited it already ~ which was wrong.

We need to change our laws to eliminate this type of criminal from the system. They are too dangerous to keep.
