Schlafly: GOP Establishment Gave Us Losers Like Dole, McCain and Romney
Cybercast News Service ^ | March 18, 2013 | Melanie Hunter

Posted on 03/19/2013 2:16:14 AM PDT by Olog-hai

Conservative legend Phyllis Schlafly told the Conservative Political Action Conference on Saturday that the Republican establishment had given America a series of losers as presidential candidates over the last two decades—and the last time they picked a winner, George W. Bush, he was a bigger spender than the Democrats.

“Why is it that the establishment has given us this bunch of losers?” Schlafly said. “The establishment has given us a whole series of losers: Bob Dole and John McCain and Mitt Romney.” …

Schlafly said the establishment wants candidates that “will only talk about economic issues” and not social or moral issues or even national security issues. “And that’s such a terrible mistake, because those social issues are the cause of the fiscal issue, and they are the issues that get to the heart of people—issues like life and marriage.” …

The majority of the people on this site at one time did. There was a bit of a purge that took place over Jorge and his RINO team. Refering to Jorge Delano Arbusto wasn’t the thing to be doing at that time.

I knew that if we kept supporting Big Goverment Republicans we were heading this way.

Perscription Drugs
Expanded funding Dept. of Education
Patriot Act
Scamnasty

Just to name a few things Jorge thought fondly of.

We Conservatives needed to call him on it when he and Rove were pushing that crap. Thise that did were silenced. Instead because he was supposedly one of us it was okay.

That is what we should learn from his tenure. Regardless of who pushing Socialist/Commie programs we need to fight it.

Washington consumes everyone into a black hole.

As soon as they get to Washington, every politician gets infected with Potomac Fever. The longer they are there, the worse it gets. They quickly find themselves more enamoured with the friends across the aisle than their constituents back home.

Power and money and free stuff and encounters of the sexual kind.

They think they are in paradise and they want to stay.

We keep hearing that strong conservative opinions are offensive to moderate voters, and you can’t win without the moderate vote.

Horsefeathers.

Give us a REAL conservative and we’ll take our chances.

Of course, the MSM won’t allow a real conservative onto the stage. He (or she, as in Sarah) will be savaged from coast to coast and called every name in the book.

Many of us on FR tried. I remember sitting here until nearly 4 a.m. as Hastert was arm-twisting to get the final votes for the prescription drug bill. And those 3, actually 4, attempts to get Comprehensive Immigration passed. (Sen. Byrd, D-WVA, stopped one attempt in 2002 on a technicality.)

The Bushbots were always out in force and attacked anyone who disparaged their idol or his positions.

Speaking of which, notice how, since the economy did actually crash on GW's watch, that the Bushbots have been relatively quiet. I do, however, expect them to be back if/when it looks like Jeb will be the next 'it's his turn guy.

So..........Rand Paul is a problem?

You are absolutely right! He is is problem for over 95% of the Republican RINO and RINO-E. He is actually practicing what he preaches. Furthermore, he is speaking words that these spineless jellyfish GOP politicians are too timid to speak or too gutless to pursue.

He does not represent (nor support) the Republican credo: “Go along to get along.”

Please reread my reply. I’m not suggesting it, just that the Roves in the party think that republican candidates haven’t been liberal enough and that Bloomberg might be an ideal candidate in their minds.

Sorry that should have had a disclaimer.

How about “Bloomberg, are you nuts”? /s

That is how it was intended anyway. Sorry about any confusion.

Perhaps that’s why W didn’t win the popular vote in 2000?

It would have been fun to be in the audience for this!

My better half and I watched it online on my laptop. Classic Phyllis.

We have a good solid pro-life plank in the Republican platform because of Phyllis. She is a person who sees the merit in the Republican party and the good people in it who could really use solid support. She works to make it better and stronger.

She is not working to form a new party. Some people need to take a clue from her.

We have a good solid pro-life plank in the Republican platform because of Phyllis.

That platform is under threat, Mitt Romney rejected it and ran pro-choice ads in some states, Santorum is a lifelong supporter of Arlen Specter (including in 2010) and campaigned for his 1996 presidential run to remove life from the GOP platform.

PELLEY: Well, the platform as written at this convention for the Republicans does not allow for exceptions on abortion with regard to the health of the mother or rape or incest. Is that where you are?

ROMNEY: No. My position has been clear throughout this campaign. I’m in favor of abortion being legal in the case of rape and incest, and the health and life of the mother.
