My husband and I were watching prime time TV tonight...show after show of the crudest sexual content you’ve ever seen. It would be considered soft porn a decade ago.. Now, it’s routine. Women are shown as sex objects, nameless, faceless bodies that hop in and out of men’s beds without any feeling or intimacy. Music videos and popular culture show women as whores, shown only as the sexual objects they represent to men and referred to in the most crudest of ways, not only by men, but by other women!
And then we are shocked, horrified to see young men doing exactly what they’ve witnessed for most their lives without shame or remorse...and we wring our hands and asks how could this happen. TURN ON YOIR DAMN TV.. LOOK AT WHAT YOUR CHILDREN ARE WATCHING 24/7... I am 54 years old..I don’t consider myself a prude, but sometime I blush at what I see during what’s marketed as FAMILY HOUR TV. It never ends.

About 2005, I turned in my cable T.V. and never looked back. I had my computer and could watch the shows that I wanted to watch, when I wanted to watch, and avoid the annoying commercials. (I would occasionally miss the robotic remote-control clicking, but not by much). I also realized that there was this thing called Outside, and I meant to get me a larger chunk of it (for sanity and health).

When I would go to my sisters' for the holidays, and they would have T.V. on, I was horrified (and, like you, no prude) at the state of what passed/passes for the New Normal Ratings and Content. Horrified.

I don't mind at all, salty language and salty situations, but F-bomb this and F-bomb that and the Seven-Things-You-Can't-Say-On-T.V. are now the new normal? When did that happen? Even those annoying commercials are even more annoying, emasculating, and filled with drivel.

Sigh. When children, teenagers, and college kids are fed a steady diet of pablum, racism, ignorance, greed, envy, sloth, rage and anger, reverse racism, sexism, misogyny, misandry, glorification of homosexuality and deviant behaviors, the destruction of morality and ethics, the championed destruction of marriage and family, the emasculation of men and boys, and the conspicuous and intentional absence of anything related to morals, ethics, personal responsibility, personal accountability, and God-- it is no wonder that T.V. is a great and terrible factor in the destruction of Western civilization.

No role models, no teaching right from wrong, no rational actors/politicians/newsmen and women/men and women of the cloth/etc., standing up and fighting for what's right in this country, our culture, language, and institutions.

And history will record that we did it to ourselves.

True.. Obama is indeed punishment for it all..
America is degraded.. most are addicted to something.. even food.. various drugs.. entertainment..
America has become corrupt.. generally..

Add the music kids listen to today. It is awful. I do not call it music, however. I listen to a station on tunein internet station. It plays old 1950’s music. I love it. I was listening to it yesterday and was comparing it to the junk today. There is no better music than Perry Como, etc. it sure does bring back a lt of memories. : )

When we answer murder with more violence in the death penalty, we put the state's seal of approval on revenge. When the most dangerous place in the country is a mother's womb and the unborn child can have his or her head crushed in an abortion, even in the process of being born, the body language of that message is that life isn't sacred and may not be worth much at all. In fact, certain kinds of killing no longer even count officially as "killing." Certain kinds of killing we enshrine as rights and protect by law. When we live this kind of contradiction, why are we surprised at the results?
