In a statement posted on the front page of their website, officials at the Green Street United Methodist Church said that they ask other churches to join in the movement to “refuse to sign any State marriage licenses until this right is granted to same- sex couples.”

In the full version of their statement - publicly posted on their website – the church asks that services such as premarital counseling be offered to couples of all orientations, in addition to other couple-specific services.

I grew up in the Methodist Church before it was the “United” Methodist Church. Seems that many things have change, and not for the better, since that time.

The Bible is pretty clear on how marriage is defined and the purpose for their being two sexes to begin with. You need not look up any verses dealing specifically with homosexuality to know two men and two women do not fit the definition. This is not open to debate.

Two people of the same sex cannot be husband and wife - that has nothing to do with bigotry - it is just reality. A man cannot be a wife and a woman cannot be a husband. This whole same-sex “marriage” craze is an assault on language.

Its what is refereed to as a dead church. The spirit no longer visits.

They bend the word to fit their template.

When you do that, the you will fail.

>>I thought I heard or read that the more conservative side won last time thanks largely to the influence of Methodists from Africa?

The UMC is a global church. The Africans did contribute a lot of votes, but there were a lot of American votes against gay pastors and gay marriage too. The revival movement (not to be confused with the gay-led reconciliation movement) in the church is growing stronger each year as Methodists come to realize that our church suffers when it tries to model itself on society instead of scripture.

>>Looking at the respective headquarters, ELCA, ECUSA, PCUSA, UMC, and UCC are functionally apostate.

The “headquarters” of the UMC does not have much impact on local churches. The Book of Discipline is the constitution of the church and it is very clear on its position on gay marriage and gay pastors. The gay mafia tried to change it last year, as it has at every General Conference for 40 years, and they failed. If they ever suceed, we Methodists will deal with it. Don’t write us off as apostate yet.

Here’s how I feel about it.

1) Oppose it, and if it gets legalized, then find a church that does what it may to opt out of it, and by all means, if you are concerned about a church being forced to do it, then don’t be part of a state church, because if you take a look at Denmark, you can see what a state-run church will do...

So they are denying legally consenting adults a service they offer until laws are changed to include their favored group. What is there to make sure they won’t continue their discrimination against heterosexuals if/when the law is changed?

A once stated goal of such activists was to SMASH MONOGAMY and SMASH THE PATRIARCHY.

That is still the goal only now they cast it in different terms. If subverting church teachings to celebrate sin and condemn normalcy makes some leave the church, they consider their job to be well done.
