The qualified membership (at least three years, as I recall) votes for directors. Members are nominated by the board. Most of the reforms that were put in after the “revolt” of 1977 have been done away with. As the members depend on the magazines to let them know who to vote for, and the magazines are controlled by the Executive VP, the Executive VP effectively controls who is on the board of directors.

Neil Knox lead a movement to keep the membership in control of the board of directors, but LaPierre and others effectively used immoral and illegal tactics to thwart the movement and consolidate power in the EVP.

That is pretty old history, now, and I am glad to say the the current NRA (including LaPierre) seems firmly on board to “hold the line” on this current legislation.

We need the NRA. It’s a shame that it is littered with the likes of David Keene and Grover Norquist. They’ve infiltrated and destroyed just about every conservative institution, I just don’t see how we trust them with this one.

This is an older article by Pam Geller. It really gets to the root of the radical Islam infiltration of CPAC by David Keene, Grover Norqiust, Suhail Khan.
