Most Americans, moreover, say the U.S. Constitution should trump state laws on gay marriage

Do they mean the part of the US Constitution that explicitly says that homosexuals can get married? That part of the Constitution?

America has looked EVIL in the face and embraced it.

Absolutely, just as they planned for many years. And many churches now going along.

North Carolina church vows to stop marriages until same-sex couples can wed

A church in North Carolina will stop performing marriages until United Methodist pastors are allowed to officiate weddings for same-sex couples in the Tar Heel state.

The Green Street United Methodist Church in Winston-Salem made the announcement on its Facebook page on Friday and held a press conference on Sunday detailing its plan. The Rev. Kelly Carpenter told FoxNews.com on Monday that his 400-member congregation and its 18-member Leadership Council have long considered the move.

“Many people in our church have been very active about marriage equality in North Carolina, so we’re not new to talking about this issue,” Carpenter said. “So over the past year, this statement has developed, and not only to the state of North Carolina, but also to the United Methodist Church in regards to the injustice of not being able to conduct same-sex weddings.”

I personally just don’t care about it.

Gay people have just never really bothered me. If they live their lives with dignity and behave themselves in the setting of a paired couple, I think that’s far better than the antics of a lot of the promiscuous “straight” perverts out there. The essence of a person’s worth to society is in his ability and willingness to work to take care of himself and the people around him, and I don’t believe gay people are any less able to do this than others.

I wouldn’t stand in a picket line to support gay marriage, either, mind you. I think the substantive issues they are complaining about are things like health insurance benefits and social security survivors benefits, and I feel that those issues could be solved administratively without having to redefine the religious sacrament of marriage, but I don’t really care that much either way.

Of course, most highly paid socialists—both government and government-linked—suck up to the social desires of the pathologies more prevalent in their employers’ families.

You are correct, polygamy is the next step.
There are groups in Canada (Yes, I know they are not part of the US ;-)), that are suing the government with that very argument, since homosexual “marriage” is acceptable, you must permit us the same “rights” by allowing polygamy.

It’s up significantly because Portman jumped on board. That makes its a 20% jump in support.

This is the card Rove and company are going to play next to destroy the conservative movement. Being a failed Kingmaker is a new job description.

Yes, “Holy Matrimony” is what the institution really describes.

I believe this slippery slope began when DIVORCE became easy.

Marriage’s value was diminished...and then incompatible people wed, knowing they could easily divorce if a problem came up....and the cycle fed on itself....

Next up: sexual contact between adults and children will be “normalized”.

Funny, you "cared" enough to post a comment with a follow-up in which you claimed that gay couples are just like the rest of us.

In other words, you want your pro-gay point of view to be presented, but rather than answer for the negative ramifications of your position, immediately withdraw into "actually I just don't care..."

I suspect that everyone "cares" about sexuality issues because they go to the core of who we are as male or female. And let's dispose of the patently false claim that gay couples are "just like" opposite-sex couples. They cannot engage in the sexual act as designed by God. They cannot "have" children or create a natural family. Beyond these critical deficiencies, there is considerable evidence that homosexual couples are fraught with a higher susceptibility to disease and mental health issues. Finally, homosexual relationships rarely last, and those that do typically have a "revolving bedroom door" policy of having numerous sexual partners outside of the relationship.

Shall I go on (I have published papers on all these subjects), or am I disturbing your willful ignorance and naive insistence that gay "couples" (I use the term loosely) are "just like the rest of us"?

There. Now it makes sense. Do you see how easy that was?

And all these stories coincidentally bombard us at the same time.

An astute observation.

I'd say it's a PROPAGANDA campaign by our beloved MSM.

Ya think? After what seems like a constant 24x7 propaganda war by movies, TV, and our governments I would be surprised if 90% of the country didn’t think that homosexuality is as American as apple pie....

Yep I just figured that the other guy, in the course of trying to have me banned from the forum, might want to know why I don’t care, but as I can see from his subsequent follow-up, he’s not the type who thinks that intelligent people can care about different things in different degrees. Everyone has to see the world exactly the way he does.

I do not think he would win a lot of elections.

I would not want the position I am expressing to be dismissed & twisted into that of a “hate-mongering bigot” who advocates the tar & feathering of homosexuals. I have no problem with legally establishing the power of attorney between any two persons, addressing issues such as hospital visitation, co-ownership of assets, etc. Also FYI, yes, I have known homosexuals and in fact have lived next door to a gay man with whom I have very cordial relations.

If 58% believed that gravity makes you float up instead of fall down, and put their belief into practice by jumping off hundred foot cliffs, the rocks would not care at all about what they believe.

Sure I care about my OWN sexuality, but I very strongly don’t care about yours nor pretty much anyone else not in my nuclear family.

With whom a person choose to bonk doesn’t enter into my calculus of the merits of their humanity or citizenship.

Very impressed that you have written “papers,” though. Does that pay well?

I think the push for polygamy will come from the Muslims. They are a favorite victim group of the Left. And after that, they will push to lower the age of consent for marriage.
