SALT LAKE CITY Utah's Catholic leader is urging Gov. Gary Herbert to veto a measure eliminating the need for a permit to carry a concealed gun in the state.
Bishop John C. Wester of the Catholic Diocese of Salt Lake City wrote to Herbert that the bill "establishes a culture in Utah that prioritizes deadly weapons over human life." . . . .
Salt Lake City Mayor Ralph Becker and Alissa Parker, whose daughter was among 20 students killed in December's school shooting in Newton, Connecticut, joined Wester in pressing for a veto.

Since when do people from CT think their opinions should govern far-away states like UT and CO? At least they could observe a decent period of mourning before making political hay for the Left out of the death of their children.

Well Bishop Wester, I prefer to see it as a bill that prioritizes human life. My own, over the deadly weapons certain to be in the hands of those who seek to do me harm, and who carry them without license and in violation of state law. Extreme Unction is your business. Let self defense be mine.

At least they could observe a decent period of mourning before making political hay for the Left out of the death of their children. Political ghouls relish the opportunity to dance in the blood of innocent victims sacrificed to validate the ghouls' feelings.

If Lanza had tried the same sh*t in Utah, he more than likely would have died of lead poisoning before claiming more than three victims. Didn't they have some jag-off in Trolley Square try that a few years ago?
Too bad about the innocent people who died, but there was sure a lot less of them because at least one of his intended targets was carrying.

Utah, where guns outnumber people 10-1 and the scenery is nice.
Downtown Salt Lake City is turning into Boulder/Berkeley, though.

Bishop John C. Wester of the Catholic Diocese of Salt Lake City wrote to Herbert that the bill "establishes a culture in Utah that prioritizes deadly weapons over human life." . . . . You mean like Vermont which has had completely unrestricted firearms carry since before there was a Bill of Rights and has the lowest violent crime rates in the nation? Your neurotic knee-jerk emotional reaction is a poor substitute for a rational assessment of reality, Bishop.

I've driven the length of Utah on I-15 over 150 times on my runs between San Diego and Pocatello. The city I like best along the route is Cedar City. Next is Santaquin for a more rural setting. SLC is simply too smoggy and loaded with libs from other states.
