“The question is, are you going to balance the budget on the backs of seniors who have already paid into the system?”
Let me correct the gentleman from Maryland. What he should be saying, if he wants to BE CORRECT is the following:
“The question is, are you going to continue Government Welfare (i.e., Social Security and Medicare) on the backs of MY KIDS who now have $16T of debt to deal with, and increasing at $1B per year?”
If the president is ready to start bringing Social Security handouts more in line with revenues, I am TOTALLY WITH HIM on that. My kids DO NOT deserve this debt, it is NOT THEIR FAULT...as they never had an opportunity to do anything about it (i.e., vote, run for office, etc.).
On the flip side - if you cut payments to the elderly, who not only put in to the program all their lives, but made plans based on government promises, you might actually relegate some of them to the trash bin. Cut away for those who are under 50 and have an opportunity to make up for the change, but not for those who are already stuck and have no other options.
but all the "cuts" now will again, be on my age group....work longer, get less back...after working for nearly 40 yrs...yep, thats the ticket...
