Good catch, I think. What the heck is he doing? The muzzle’s going to jump straight up if he fires like that. Bye, bye, sight picture. Possibly he’s more concerned about not exposing himself than actually hitting anything.
In any event, launching a rifled slug or a 3" buckshot load off the hood without having control of the fore end would provide a strong incentive to not do it again.
There is another picture from the same incident floating about that shows the guy with the camo and copious tactical gear putting his trigger finger dang near up on top of his shotgun's receiver; I can only assume that to be another modern technique taught only to those whom government has elevated over peons such as myself.
