Yes it can. It's on a standard Picatinny rail not a custom mount. Mine has a quick release and would be easy to put on backwards. The mistake would be obvious first time you tried to use it but if they don't store the sights on the rifles I could see it happening. Still, it's really sloppy. Hopefully that was training and not a real emergency.

Wouldn’t they have taken those units to the range to qualify or break-in long before using them in a real situation? Or maybe this was just a training exercise. Still...
