Producer Snuff Garrett had gone to the length of getting Buddy Rich to tutor Gary Lewis in drumming before he threw in the towel and delegated Lewis to lead vocals with over-dubbing to get over the problem of Lewis’ weak voice. He brought in some of the Wrecking Crew to handle instrumental duties. This debuted at #55 on its way to the Top 10.
