I’m all for reform that allows for achieving legal residency and work permits but not for an accellerated path to citizenship for those that come illegally. There must be a stiff penalty associated with coming illegally. I believe one should have to wait no less than 10 years and be shown to be self sufficient(not dependent on the federal govt for a period of not less than two years) before they can ever apply for citizenship if they come illegally.

You want it [illegal-immigration] to drop-off like it was nothing: make the "mandatory minimum" for being an illegal immigrant to be "involuntary servitude for the greater of one year or the number of years they have been residing here illegally" -- word it so that's the prerequisite for seeking citizenship after being here illegally and watch it all drop off.

“I’m all for reform that allows for achieving legal residency and work permits but not for an accelerated path to citizenship for those that come illegally.”

That’s a sucker’s bet. Just like the 1986 Amnesty that was supposed to be followed by strict enforcement of our immigration laws, and to never be followed by another amnesty.

Democrat politicians, supported by the treason wing of the GOP, will gut any attempt to limit the benefits given to amnestied illegals. And if they don’t do it the courts will.
