Re the kiddie porn false analogy. Not only would the police and military not be given a special expemption to view kiddie porn, but the other big difference is that a crime is committed against the children in the production of kiddie porn. It’s rape and abuse, which are already felonies.
No crime is committed against steel and plastic in the creation of a carbine. No crime is committed in owning a carbine. Then we’re back to the police and military. If it’s a crime to possess a modern carbine, then why are the police and military allowed to commit that crime, but not civilians?
