Cohn could have conducted the jury selection (voir dire) by using up his all allotted rejections without cause on potential jurors he thought were Jewish, without specifically saying why he rejected them. In that way he may have had to eventually accept a couple of Jews on the jury but could have minimized their numbers without getting himself into this hassle. He may have been pleasantly surprised - from his perspective - if any Jews that may have gotten on the jury were leftists.
I'm not condoning him for this mentality, but he could have handled this concern of his more adroitly by being more subtle about it.
Perhaps he expected a more sympathetic approach from lefty media, whom he had reason to believe would be sympathetic to his Judenrein jury approach.
Been thinking about this one off and on today ~ maybe he doesn’t want to take the case and has gotten cold feet.
