The only consolation I have is that I didn't vote for either.
Arizona has to make its primaries for Republicans only. Allowing independents to vote dillutes the conservative vote and I think that was the actual intention of the RINO establishment who are afraid of honest conservatives.

Actually we could have had even more “disastrous consequences”...keep in mind that the AZ Dems were planning to run Gabby Giffords against Jeff Flake to take over Jon Kyl’s Senate seat. However, as you know, old Gabby ended up with a bullet in her brain bucket and the Dems realized that unlike Chicago, where the Amish reelected Jesse Jackson Jr. even while he was in rehab, AZ Dems here wouldn’t have much success in propping up Gabby enough to run.
