Coburn is one of those who went to Washington thinking he would change things.

He caught Potomac Fever and has been going down hill ever since.

IIRC, he originally promised his electors that he would be a self-imposed term-limited Senator. He later changed his mind — because he thought he was doing so much good in Washington.

Thanks for that on the ground info on Joe Wilson, upchuck. Seems everyone loves Trey Gowdy for the job. He would be risking his represntative seat, but after the dustup between Graham/Paul, ANYONE’s shot at ousting Graham has skyrocketed. I think he has the style and charisma that would trounce Graham’s. Two prosecutors facing off would be fun to watch.

...we are heading for a Soviet-style collapse with government tanks turned to face the American people when their day of ruin arrives.

That's true.

Lacking a third party movement

That's crazy talk.

There's no time for that, it won't happen in our lifetimes. The TEApublicans need to take over the GOP.

I would add a 3rd to your list of the Rand Paul filibuster, a presence of the US Constitution and why it is relevant.

‘Cankles’ did not do so well on her last trek to her coronation. Out of nowhere an upstart jumped into the race and derailed her.

The same could happen again. She will be agéd by 2016.

Hi all,

Just popping in for a minute or 2 today. Girlene, I really appreciate and love your recaps of the Sunday show discussions! I don’t listen to/watch most of them, so it’s great to have your recaps. You also have great insight and posts.

I did want to add to your comment: “I kept waiting for someone to say, hey, how about obama take less trips, have less man dates with Republicans using a 20 vehicle caravan to go a couple of blocks, to save enough money to allow SS to be available for White House tours.”

Rep Louie Gohmert (R-TX) (BTW - I really like him) introduced an amendment to the CR that would not provide the White House with any taxpayer funds to transport President Barack Obama to and from any golf course until they resume White House public tours.
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2993959/posts

Further, it was determined by ‘someone’ that it costs $74K/week for the WH tours (IIRC it was because of the Secret Service staff - though are they going to lay-off those staff?) Others have said the WH tours were run mostly by volunteers and audio headsets and it only cost about $18k/week). At any rate, Eric Bolling (FNC - The Five and Fox Business) and Sean Hannity mentioned a few times last week that they would personally put up $74k each to keep the WH tours open for the kids during Spring Break.

Lastly, I’ve heard several Republicans come out this week and said that Obummer had other choices he could have made and by him deciding to do this, makes him look petty and trying to hit Americans where it hurts (there was a memo from a Dept Head to one of the branch offfices (NC, IIRC), that said when making cuts, do it where it makes most harm and don’t go against their meme (paraphrasing).

I did hear 1 or 2 mention why did Obummer spend all the money and need a 20-car parade to go to dinner w the Pubs - why didn’t he invite them to the WH - we’re already paying for the chef, etc.

I, too, live in SC and disagree with the assessment of Joe Wilson .......he is the only one that consistently comes to our area to talk to his constituents and follows all of us tea partiers on ideals. He is dedicated and honorable.

Yes, thank you! It was Tom Davis pulling out of running and it was Lee Bright who was considering it.

It’s been evident for a long time now that Lindsey is on board with the people who want to take over our country, but I’m surprised about how open he is getting about it. Thanks for the revealing link.

I have commented many times that that tactic worked in both 2008 and 2012 -- get several 'conservatives' to run to splinter the vote so the GOPe candidate can slip through and win.

I have no doubt that several from the 2012 primary stages will show up in the early rounds of 2016 also.

Question: Is that by design with the 'conservatives' in on it or are those 'conservatives' too stupid to see what is going on?

Wow, thanks for all the background on the al-alwaki’s son droning. Yes, McCain/Graham are on the wrong side of this issue. Average Americans know this is wrong and agree with Paul.

Tom Coburn should have been too bright to allow “Potomac Fever” to infect him. These people need to spend less time in DC, attend more town halls, something to maintain some objectivity.

Morning Girlene, one of my most knowledgeable and personable Freeper friends.

So I once again sang all the parts in keeping with my place in heaven.

BUT IT GETS BETTER!!

Taking deep breath.....

Today, I outdid even myself.

It was “Ministry Fair” day at the church. All the various ministries set up a table in the parish life center and man the tables after the masses to tell people how to join, we need your help, yada, yada.

I am on the Finance Council of the church, the parishioner committee overseeing the church finances. And I must say I am quite dedicated to this cause as by me, and my tortured work history, people steal all the time. From a church? I want to be on the committee overseeing this. Also we got a new business manager and I want to make sure he does it right.

I am just a financially experienced parishioner looking over how the money’s spent....there’s a bunch of us.

So the Finance council has a table, boring as all get out, just a round table with a bunch of brochures. I go in to see what’s happening.

Nobody asked me to man a table this year I don’t know why but I don’t mind. I do enough for that church, including singing all the parts.

But as soon as I walked in to the plc I walked right over to the finance council table and there was a tall quite handsome man perusing the brochure. The person who was assigned with manning the table was talking to some one else.

So I walked up to he who peruses....did I tell you he was handsome? Bout my age?

Just giving you the background.

So I looked up and told him we could really use his help on the finance council, extended hand. Could he leave his phone number so we could contact him with meeting dates and such?

“I used to be on the finance council,” he said, returning my handshake. Well I certainly don’t remember him and folks, I **would** have remembered him.

So I grab a piece of paper but before I could find a pen he had out his business card. He then took my pen and turned over the business card, writing his home phone number on the back.

Heh.

I get home and I look at the card....guy is...well maybe I better not reveal, but he works for Delaware Technical Community College so he’s not only handsome, he’s smart!

Heh.

Ten minutes and I got a great recruit for the finance council who is quite handsome, did I mention?

I asked choir director, who I love but who is a bit dense, where the hell was the choir table? He tells me it’s part of the liturgy ministry. I told him next year I was going to set up a choir table and....

SING ALL THE PARTS!!!

heh.

My pleasure, SC. Thanks for all the info on the WhiteHouse tours. That’s a great idea Louis Gohmert had. Lol, he is a treasure. I am happy to hear people talking about how obama himself, could tighten his own belt a bit to offset costs associated with the White House tours.

After reading your recap on this issue it seems that whoever’s brilliant idea it was to cancel WH tours has really stepped in it.

Re Obama and Holder causing terrorist attacks and the resulting death and mutilation of New Yorkers during a terror trial—it might blow up in their traitorous faces kinda like closing the WH tours during kiddies’ spring break.

Could they possibly be that stupid? Then I realized that carnage wreaked on New Yorkers by Obama/Holder could result in violent riots. Bad PR yes. The excuse for martial law YES in spades. I believe they’d use the opportunity and Bloomie and Cuomo would help them.

Did any of us think the same plot with Romney as the winner would work...

What they don’t anticipate is that people will be so pissed at the GO-PEE that half of us bail. Or maybe they’re fine with that as long as they’re still in the Royal circle.

Problem. I’ve said for years now that if they try to cram a Bush down our throats, I’m third party and so are a lot more of us. Sadly, to go third right before an election is to lose.

If we’re going to do that, we need to start early. OTOH we have some really good people (Rand Paul for one) looking good still within the fully organized (on all the ballots and all those other expensive in time and money things that have to be done) party structure. It’s hard to dump the GOP when we really do have some wonderful people—Cruz, Gowdy, etc. still within.

What I’m doing now is seeing if we can cap the crap with Bush (and any other GO-PEE) in time to give TEA Party people time to promote a real obvious front runner we could all live with even if he/she isn’t our first choice.

People are working to promote local TEA candidates to take over city, county and state positions within the GOP. I want that to succeed. The GOP Executive Committee of our county was just overturned by TEA type folks.

The only thing I’m sure of is that if Bush prevails, that’s irrefutable proof that we’re being gamed by both parties and I’m done with them.

Juan Williams closed the panel portion of FNS with a sexist remark about Laura I. and her hair, but as usual it got blown away because Juan is a liberal.

Which is why Juan is so pumped up about using drones on American soil to kill Americans. Life is cheap to a liberal.

One thing I didn't hear in any of the panel discussions about using drones is how much easier Janet Reno's job would have been at Waco, instead of having to fake a fire.
