If I read the Mississippi law correctly, you will not need a permit to open carry.

Part of what the recent reform did was to remove the language about “concealed in whole or in part”.

Open carry has always been constitutionaly protected in Mississippi.

Thanks for the link to the Gun Watch article - until then I had only seen the blurbs in the paper about the signing, but not the law or another interpretation. They made it unclear and I was under the impression that the open carry bit was still being distorted rather than it straightening out the whole shebang.
