As you look back over the last ten years or so isn’t it strange how so many people like Jeb Bush were considered conservative to us back then but now we see them as rinos or faux conservatives who took on the conservative label because they knew that they needed to pretend to be conservatives in order to get elected.

That’s so true Cradle of Freedom. Washington is like a black hole. Any politician who gets there is immediately pulled by the forces of the Establishment - both on the Dem and GOP sides - into jettisoning their principles in exchange for being accepted into “polite” Washington society. It must take an incredible amount of integrity and strength to resist the impulse to go along to get along. Anyone who refuses to toe the party line is shunned, labelled a kook or “whacko bird”, kept out of leadership positions and off committees and denied financial support during elections.
