Connecticut 2nd Amendment Lobby Day In Hartford, CT
NRA-CCDL- ^ | 3/9/2013 | raybbr

Posted on 03/09/2013 8:02:22 AM PST by raybbr

Hi,

Just want to remind you all about the 2nd Amendment Lobby Day scheduled for this Monday at the Legislative Office Building in Hartford. We have a few people (eastern CT) who have said they have room in their vehicles to bring others with them. Please let me know if you are going, need a ride, or are willing to drive others. I will also need your town, so we can connect people with drivers/cars.

Here is the pertinent info (for more please check out the Wednesday email Lobby Day – You Are Needed)

Date: Monday, March 11

Time: 10:00 a.m – 4:00 pm

Where: 300 Capitol Avenue in Hartford

Parking: Free parking will be available at Cabela’s in Hartford located at 475 East Hartford Boulevard North, East Hartford, CT 06118

Transportation: A complimentary shuttle service will run between Cabela’s and the state Capitol between the hours of 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The last bus will leave the Capitol at 4:00pm so plan accordingly.

For more information, here is the release from the NRA.

From Scott Wilson of CCDL:

“For those parking at Cabelas on Monday. The 4 shuttles will start making runs from Cabelas to the Legislative Office Building around 8:00am. They will be running continually throughout the day. As the number of passengers levels off after early runs, they will spread out to approximately 20 minute intervals between each pick up. The last buses leaving Hartford going back to Cabelas will be at approximately 4:00pm. Please try to car pool to Cabelas to alleviate the limited parking.”

Please bring a letter for each of your legislators, along with one for each of the Legislator Leaders with your concerns on the proposed gun legislation. To help ensure that your legislator reads your letter, try to keep it brief (one page or less) and to the point, but also make sure they understand that you are going to be watching how they vote on all gun measures that will be presented to them and that you will be informing others within your district.

The Legislative leaders names:

Speaker Rep. Brendan Sharkey

House Minority Leader Rep. Larry Cafero

House Majority Leader Rep. Joe Aresimowicz

Senate Minority Leader Senator John McKinney

President of the Senate Don Williams

Majority Leader of the Senate Martin Looney

These men are negotiating behind closed doors on and Emergency certification bill…one that will not follow normal procedure, and one that is not an emergency.

Joanne is making up cards, with the CT and US Constitutions gun rights provisions written on them. We will have them at the Capitol. Please make sure you get one, sign it, and delivery it to your legislator or their aide.

If you just cannot make this event, please write a letter and fax it to:

Senate Democrats: Fax: 860-240-0208

Senate Republicans: Fax: (860) 240-8306 or (860) 240-8308

House Republicans: Fax: 860-240-0207

I could not find the fax # for the House Democrats, just fax theirs to any of the above, I am sure they will still be delivered to your representative.

TOPICS: Constitution/Conservatism; Front Page News; US: Connecticut
KEYWORDS: banglist; connecticut; guncontrol; hartford; secondamendment
I got this in an e-mail.

I am planning to attend. I hope any CT FReepers will also go.

Excellent. Glad you posted the info.

Looking forward to the *numbers* of those attending to being reported as extremely low.

I have written and called everyone on the *the list*. I have as yet, received NO reply or acknowledgement. Talk about battening down the hatches. These ELECTED officials are operating outside their roles.

Yesterday on the CT Public network I watched live a committee on gun violence at the capital.
Wow these people are dangerous ,have no idea what infringe means and obviously have no respect for the constitution.
There was some AH named Bernard Sullivan,an x police chief and he was the worst of the bunch
Everything they pushed was unconstitutional and they were just going on and on reinforcing each others proposals.Every proposal elimintaed and or hindered law abiding gun owners rights and make some people criminals overnight.
Not one member supports any thing to do with gun ownwerhip.I had to shut it off it was sickening. It was and is a perfect example of Control not gun control Members of the CT Gun Grab Commission:

Chairman Scott Jackson, mayor of Hamden, Conn.

Adrienne Bentman, director of the Adult Psychiatry Residency Program at Hartford Hospital’s Institute of Living.

Ron Chivinski, a teacher at Newtown Middle School.

Robert Ducibella, founding principal of DVS Security Consulting and Engineering.

Terry Edelstein, the governor’s liaison to non-profit organizations.

Kathleen Flaherty, a lawyer who works with the National Alliance for Mental Illness in Connecticut.

Alice Forrester, executive director of the Clifford W. Beers Guidance Clinic.

Ezra Griffith, senior research scientist at Yale University’s Department of Psychiatry.

Patricia Keavney-Maruca , a member of the state board of education and a former technical high school teacher.

Christopher Lyddy, a former state legislator who represented Newtown who is a consultant on stress and trauma.

Denis McCarthy, Norwalk, Conn., fire chief.

Barbara O’Connor, University of Connecticut director of public safety.

Wayne Sandford, a professor at the University of New Haven’s Henry C. Lee College of Criminal Justice and Forensic Sciences and former deputy commissioner of the Connecticut Department of Emergency Management & Homeland Security.

David Schonfeld, the director of the National Center for School Crisis and Bereavement and a professor at the University of Cincinnati Department of Pediatrics.

Harold Schwartz, chief psychiatrist at Hartford Hospital’s Institute of Living.

Bernard Sullivan, former Hartford police chief and former commissioner of the Connecticut Department of Public Safety.

Got there around 1:00 - shuttles from Cabela’s were great - saw some video’s from this morning - wish I’d have been there - great turnout.

Dropped off letters to the six Legislative leaders along with my Senator and Rep. (Governor Malloy’s office, too).

Today we came with only letters - no pitchforks. This time.
