This thread needs this important sidenote imo. One court has already decided, and I agree, that there is no constitutional right (my term) to police services.
Warren v. District of Columbia

The 2nd Amendment arguably clarifies that citizens their own police force.

Critiques welcome.

You are correct. At the time of the Founding there weren’t organized police forces as we know them today. They evolved from the old constable/sheriff system in the 19th Century. So, an Originalist would say there is no constitutional right to police protection.
