Also Bright is an appealing candidate and fully vetted. He’s a state senator since 2008 and is interested in running. All he needs to do is be able to raise the money and secure the backing from freepers...

And his name is not Graham.

At this point I'd back a name drawn at random from the phone-book over Graham or McCain. If he is "an appealing candidate and fully vetted" thats icing on the cake.

Yes, I agree. Its time to send Graham and McCain back to private life. No ifs, ands, or buts.

Yes but the candidate has be to good and able to work hard to gain local support. Lots of driving round and attending meetings with 10-20 people, shaking hands, handing out leaflets and convincing local businessmen and leaders to support you.

Since he;s a state senator he’s been through all that and will just need to build it out and use the model he has used to get elected locally on a state-wide basis. That’s not easy but in a smaller state like SC it’s not impossible plus there will be true believers who will volunteer locally for his campaign as Graham has plenty of enemies mostly at the grassroots level.

It’s not like he has the state locked up. I’m sure he has some sort of machine and has a lot of county chairman in his pocket but I’m convinced the grassroots are just not there. After all how can you want to volunteer and work hard for someone like Graham? He’s very obnoxious. He is relying on inertia and his name to just get re-elected. I think if we gave him a proper race he will fail badly !

Sure, they go back to private life with a life-time salary which we pay for.
