Some Kansas lawmakers want to stay a step ahead of any new federal gun laws or regulations by reintroducing a bill that would exempt some Kansas-built firearms and accessories from any federal regulation.

House Bill 2199, known as the Second Amendment Protection Act, is seen by some as a declaration of states' rights. It is seen by others, including a Wichita firearms manufacturer, as politics as usual.

A good way to encourage gun manufacturers to locate in Kansas. I wonder if any are looking around...

I’m looking for something to do in retirement.

Toughest and most expensive thing is making barrels, but as non-restricted items the way HB 2199 is worded it’s not a problem.

It’s called “Restraint of Trade.”

How about standing with The Constitution.

It’s much better than picking winners and losers based on geography. Wouldn’t you agree?

The feds believe if you grow your own corn and feed it to your own animals which you consume who never leave the farm you have somehow affected interstate commerce.

I reject that and all subsequent, downstream premises.

Maybe in a general sense; they'd be only the ninth state to adopt this law (otherwise known as the Firearms Freedom Act). Probably more accurate to say that laws like these may drive manufacturers of guns and other freedom-intensive products to free states, plural, in general.

Bump & a BANG!

FReepmail me if you want to be on or off my Kansas list.

I'm not from Kansas, but I'm trying to start a list for each state that includes a FReeper with a state ping list for that state if that state doesn't have one already.

If I see a story about Kansas, I want to let you know. This is not expected to be a high volume ping list.

Do any of you have a state ping list for Kansas? Do any of you want to volunteer and take my Kansas list to hopefully grow it? Let me know. Then I can work on other states.

It's time for people to just blatantly state they will not accept any new state or federal gun control. Hopefully there is defiance of this oppression on a level to stop those laws we can't defy as individuals, and hopefully there are enough in our military and law enforcement who will not attempt mass murder to enforce unconstitutional leftist tyranny. I think it's about time to find out. We can't accept any new control whatsoever. We can't accept any new unconstitutional laws or mandates no matter what. No gun control, no obamacare, and nothing else that's a blatant violation of our Constitution.

We are already dealing with so many unconstitutional laws and mandates we have to first stop all the new ones we are being hit with before dealing with the ones already here. We can peacefully defy our oppressors, and let them decide if they want to escalate it further than that. If that's what they decide we will see if it's the tyrants or the patriots who have the numbers on their side. I'm sick of having to fight tooth and nail within a broken system when our second amendment doesn't allow for any infringement on our second amendment. It can't even be taken away with a Constitutional amendment unlike the rest of our Constitution. Unless we give it up it willingly it can't be taken.

I think all government localities should have Second Amendment Protection Acts on their agenda. I’m tired of having to be on defense for something which should not even be in a court unless the second amendment is revoked. As Don Coryell said, “The best defense is a good offense.”
