Rep Bridenstein's and Rep. Heulskamp's Letter to Boehner & Cantor Regarding Continuing Resolution
Congressman Bridenstein's Webpage ~ Letter to Boehner and Cantor ^ | 03/01/13 | Rep. Jim Bridenstein-R OK & Tim Heulskamp-R KS

Posted on 03/05/2013 9:53:29 PM PST by Freedom56v2

Dear Speaker Boehner and Leader Cantor:

The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (“ObamaCare”) remains broadly unpopular across America. More and more Americans are now feeling its impact–from job losses and part-time downgrades, to insurance policy changes and violations of religious liberties, to state budget strains from Medicaid expansions. And Americans didn’t like these impacts. Most Americans still believe that healthcare should be controlled by patients and doctors, not by the government.

Therefore, we should re-start efforts to repeal ObamaCare in its entirety this year, next year, and until we are successful. However, in the meantime, there is more we can do in Congress.

Since much of the implementation of ObamaCare is a function of the discretionary appropriations process, and since most of the citizens we represent believe that ObamaCare should never go into effect, we urge you to affirmatively de-fund the implementation of ObamaCare in any relevant appropriations bill brought to the House floor in the 113th Congress, including any continuing appropriations bill. Please commit to not bring to the House Floor any legislation that provides or allows funds to implement ObamaCare through the Department of Health and Human Services, the Department of the Treasury, or any other federal entity.

I had no idea there is a Continuing Budget Resolution being voted on tomorrow...

As per Mark Levin radio show, Rep. Bridenstein;s letter to Boehner and Cantor urges them to

"affirmatively de-fund the implementation of ObamaCare in any relevant appropriations bill brought to the House floor in the 113th Congress, including any continuing appropriations bill."

So by voting in favor of the Continuing Spending Resolution tomorrow, Republicans are missing an opportunity to defund Obamacare.

So far, no reply from Boehner or Cantor.

Continuing Spending Resolutions seem to be the reason the Senate can get away without passing a budget. This way current spending is based on last years spending. It seems this would be a great way for the House and the Pubs to help slow down the runaway overall spending.

You are probably correct. Enabling move....Along lines of credit cards extending increased credit? Levin points out that administration is “feverishly” working to implement Obama care and GOP seems to have no interest in impeding the effort.

Seems GOP mission is: “Go Along to Get Along”

All talk but no action!

I wonder how shocked we would be if we actually knew the details in the back door agreements between the leadership of the R’s and D’s in congress.

So shocked we would pick up pitchforks and start heating the tar and plucking the chickens.

DC is corrupt and broken.

Why would you look for a backbone in a puddle of slime?

We would be wiser to look for backbones where backbones exist.

The GOP has shown us all that we need to see.

It is time to look elsewhere.

30 House members are doing the right thing. Let’s keep them. Levin has a link on MarkLevinshow.com as to who the Patriots in the House are.

"Where is the backbone of the GOP?"

Fighting a battle now against Obamacare funding, in my opinion, is a useless waste of time. Obama is President, and harry Ried is Senate majority leader. There is nothing you or anyone else can do about it. Fighting an Obamacare funding battle might seem gratifying, but it would be a useless waste of time. Do you really think Obama would sign a bill that defunds his namesake, Obamacare?

The GOP needs to fight the battles it has a chance of winning. I believe its current strategy of "doing absolutely nothing" is a good one. Let Obama lead. Since he can't lead, the result will be nothing for the next two years. That sure beats passage of the garbage Obama wants passed.

Did we vote for them to do absolutely nothing? I didn’t.

I could be wrong, but I don’t think Obama signs a lack of Continuing Spending Resolution. GOP stops enabling the spending. They refuse to fund it.

Obama may not be leading~in fact he is merely campaigning against the GOP, but according to Levin, the Administration is “feverishly” working to flesh out the regulations this year prior to the first implementation year of Obamacare. The strategy of doing nothing does not make it any easier to mitigate the disaster later.

Again, we did not vote for these guys to do nothing and they seem to not be able to find any battle they think they can win. GOP governors are caving too.

I am somewhat shocked at the actions of some of the former heroes of conservative branch of GOP...for example, Ryan.

Shocked by the capitulation of the GOP governors regarding federal money for Obamacare.

What is the old phrase: Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely?

Then what?

Well IMHO, pretty much doing anything is better than doing nothing. These politicians were not sent to Washington to sit and do nothing....Why have a 2=party system if the second party does nothing?

We have the House....for now, and they should be actively addressing proposals that are not conservative.

But in answer to your question, then they propose changes in budget appropriations that reduce spending to Obamacare and anything else they can.

Regardless of Obamacare, these continuing resolutions have got to stop—from what I understand, they are adding to the deficit because by not passing the budget, the government is enabled to spend with the stimulus money added in annually; what was supposed to be a one year stimulus goes on and on.

In 2011 they did a continuing resolution to run thru the campaign season. Great. So now what. When will they ever address this runaway spending train?

We are not doing ourselves or our children any favors with the GOP voting with Dems to kick can down the road which the Continuing Resolutions do.

Should add that if GOPy could delay some implementation due to lack of funding, perhaps the public would get a taste of what is in store and like the ATM fees and $4.00+ gas, there might be enough noise made to limit the scope.

Do any of them do the right thing when doing so actually results in the right thing being done?

The answer is no.

Some do the right thing when doing the right thing is irrelevent and actually results in the wrong thing being done.

I think a few voted against Chuck Hagel too.

They did the right thing.

Did it matter?

No.
