Come on, everyone knew it wasn’t the video. You know what came to my mind when first I saw the news that day? “Hey, it’s 9/11, isn’t it?” And I’m just a suburban rube from flyover country lacking all manner of supersecret, special beltway insight.

The video was one of those lies we tell ourselves in full cognizance. Like that our enemies are jealous of our freedom, officeholders are “public servants,” and democracy works. Only more specific.

Excellent article; thanks for the reference! Is it already up here at FR? However, it's making me pound my head on the wall ... especially the following:

"The source said press officers from the Defense Intelligence agency, the White House and the FBI were 'looped in' from the start and that some of them expressed concerns in writing that the media would ask follow up questions if certain words or phrases were used."

Well, God forbid anyone should ASK a follow-up question!!! Especially before an election! Gah!!!!!

Sorry, had to let off a little steam here. This Benghazi thing has been making me so angry I can hardly stand it for months now. This just fuels the fire.

Brennan sailed through the committee vote today, 12-3, after committee members were able to review the Benghazi documents along with information relating to the administration's drone policies - two issues that held up a vote on his nomination.
