Looks like Boehner needs some spine stiffening again. You would think he could learn to say something in favor of the Constitution, now and then, like "any form of registration will be dead on arrival" or other non-controversial statement.
Non-answers that cater to inside the beltway types such as "the House will consider it" do not cut it.

***Boehner said lawmakers need to examine how to stop people with mental illnesses from obtaining firearms.***
Looks like Boehner needs some spine stiffening again.
How about allowing those needing institutionalizing to obtain refuge. A few Boehner-tears for that would help. Also, if preventing them from obtaining unnecessary SSRIs and benzodiazepines would perform a miracle general recovery from the epidemic of mental illnesses caused by them.

And the last little piggy cried wee, wee, wee, all the way home.
Boehner is a woman in man’s clothing.

Looks like Boehner needs some spine stiffening again. It is not John that need his spine stiffened, it is us.
Do you think for one minute that Nancy would even consider something that was not what her party wanted? It would never be considered and would never see the light of day.
John should be saying to the Senate, gun control legislation will not be considered.
Be afraid, very afraid.
