Consumer spending propped up our weak economic numbers long enough to get President Obama through the election which is one reason that he used to treat his payroll tax cut raid on Social Security funding as the most important #60Dollars in every Americans life, before suddenly and silently dropping it during the fiscal cliff showdown.

Gov’t waste across the board is through the roof.
Glad to see that we aren’t in a recession and that the economy is booming.
The SS/FICA payroll tax got Obama through the election, after that he abandoned it.
Some libs loved it because it was progressive, others were worried that it would discredit SS by disconnecting the taxes from the benefits.
They swapped in those SS IOUs faster for two years and Obama gets re-elected.

We are fighting a spiritual battle for the control of the US. The two sides are completely opposite in their world view and foundational beliefs. The conservatives believe man is basically evil and needs incentive to treat his brother right. The liberals believe man is basically good and should be free. No, I am not saying conservatives are against freedom. Quite the opposite. The two just value completely different freedoms. And the former understands why mankind needs the rule of law. People as a group, given the freedom to do so, always reduce their society to the lowest common denominator. It is why the former believes in creating a society ruled by the rule of law, not men. It’s because even those men at the top can not be trusted.
The whole point is clearly illustrated in the Bill Whittle video below.
It also illustrates what happens when a society is founded on the principles of unconstrained “good” man.
