Senators delay consideration of gun legislation (D.C.)
Washington Post ^ | February 28, 2013 | Ed O'Keefe

Senators postponed consideration of legislation limiting gun violence for at least a week Thursday as members of both parties said they wanted more time to review the bills and potentially propose amendments.

The Senate Judiciary Committee scheduled the meeting to begin considering four bills sponsored by Democrats to expand the nation’s background check program for gun sales, make gun trafficking a federal crime for the first time, bolster school security programs and ban hundreds of military-style assault weapons and parts.

The decision by to postpone consideration of the bills is typical and usually occurs when the committee is considering bills and judicial nominations, aides said...

--snip--

The words “current language” are critical, however, because the bill’s lead sponsor, Sen. Charles E. Schumer (D-N.Y.) is looking to rewrite the bill to force gun dealers to keep records of private firearm transactions. Schumer is expected to use the next week to continue negotiations with potential Republican co-sponsors, including Sens. Tom Coburn (Okla.) and Mark Kirk (Ill.). Coburn has said he cannot support a bill that mandates records of private sales...

“Senators postponed consideration of legislation limiting gun violence. . ..”
??????????????
I doubt they had any proposed legislation aimed explicitly at limiting violent uses of guns.

"Senators aren't God. They can't pass legislation that limits gun violence."

Actually they can. But effective laws have zip to do with gun ownership/registration/background checks. EFFECTIVE things include "three strikes laws", boosted sentencing for commission of a crime if a gun is involved, and actually enforcing the existing gun laws. Most "gun crime" cases these days are plea-bargained away by DA's.

Senators postponed consideration of legislation limiting gun violence...<<<

and now in other News...
Senators are debating the pros and cons of adding more daylight to each day.....Most agree but the Bat and other nocturnal species lobby have made a strong case for themselves citing undue hardship should they act on it...
the legislation has since been tabled for further study and a Committee has been formed to study the matter in depth...

We know the real reason why they are delaying this legislation. They figure, and rightly so, that new anti-gun ownership laws wouldn’t go over too well right about now.... when DHS is releasing thousands of illegal immigrant criminals. Disarming or attempting to disarm law-abiding Americans while criminal illegals are being set free is just tacky.

Timing is everything.

“Grassley hinted that at least some Republicans might be able to support the background check proposal.”

The socialist are pushing “background checks” as back door national registration that WILL lead to arbitrary and capricious confiscation of firearms.

When all the dust settles, the only legislation the socialist wants and needs is “national registry data base” so they can confiscate firearms. Without knowing who owns firearms, or where those firearms are located, and the type of firearm they will be confiscating, all other is nothing more than minutia and will be for naught. This is exactly the findings in the DOJ memo recently brought to light by the NRA to the chagrin of the gun grabbers!

I have a great idea. Lets make murder illegal, that way no on will ever die until they get sick and ObamaCare doesn’t cover their treatment.

They have already prohibited violence in the form of murder and assault in various degrees. Why would they need a new law limiting gun violence?

Senators postponed consideration of legislation limiting gun violence for at least a week

The absolute idiocy of this statement is astounding!!
//////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

What do you mean? I can write that in one line. Are you going to tell me this won’t actually work?

“ALL GUN VIOLENCE ANYWHERE ON EARTH IS HEREBY LIMITED TO NOT MORE THAN ONCE PER MILLISECOND, this legislation shall remain in force for no less than one week.”

Trying to disarm the population while simultaneously starting a civil war may be too much to attempt, even for this band of clowns.

If legislation limiting gun violence can be delayed a week is each committee member then liable for every violent act committed with a gun until passage?

These guys are nuts.

The major question is that the onus should be on government to prove that restricting a God-given right. We need to start teaching Americans that the Bill of Rights is a Bill of Restrictions against government.

The Rights of the people are unlimited.
