Court records show the new head of the North Carolina Democratic Party owes nearly $286,000 in back taxes and penalties.
Pittsboro Mayor Randy Voller was elected party chair earlier this month, pledging to rebuild an organization still reeling from defeats at the ballot box in November.

Sounds like he’s well-qualified for the job.
The question is (but won’t be asked by the “media”), will they garnish his paycheck?
When it comes to Democrats and taxes, its always “taxes for thee but not for me.”
Someone’s going to have to pay his fair share for him. It’s only fair.
The guy’s story is so fake blaming the real estate crash.
How dumb does he think the public is?
Let me guess, rebuilding the party platform is going to involve a lot of fund raising?
Duke Energy wont be repaid the $10 million line of credit it guaranteed for Charlotte to host last years Democratic National Convention .
Democrats ended Convention $15 Million Short ?
Beautiful!!!!
CA....
If he keeps this up, he could qualify to be Obama’s Secretary of the Treasury.
Post of the week! LMAO!
Between Geithner and Lew, the bar for SoT financial perdition has been set extremely high.
Sounds like hes well-qualified for the job
At least he’s been properly vetted....unlike our president.
The only reason I can think of for hiring someone in that situation is they are easily owned and controlled.
NC isn't Illinois, but still has a lot of political swamp to drain and reclaim, especially with all those NE yankees escaping the mess they made up north and bringing it with them to NC.
“How dumb does he think the public is?”
Stupid enough to elect Zero twice?
He’s a Democrat but, he’s still a human being.
I know several people who took a big hit in 2008 and are in the same boat.
Their construction and development businesses just went from running to broken overnight. They are scared to death of the State and IRS but, they keep talking to them and working on paying their taxes.
The amount they owe is staggering when one considers how much revenue the had pre 2008 and they are at 25% of that today.
I don’t know anyone in the construction industry and related trades who didn’t take a huge hit and it’s tough.
Can’t imagine owing $287K and it must take his breath away.
I for one admire the guy for being upfront about his situation and when one thinks of it he owes more in taxes than most people make in a year.
Hey! I represent that remark....
But, I've been here 20 years and I'd not change one thing about the South. 2nd smartest thing I've done was to move here. (#1 was marrying the lovely and talented Mrs. WBill, who is a native Southerner.)
And to the swamp draining...I like Roy Cooper. He's shining a lot of light into inconvenient places that everyone - Dems and Republicans - don't like. That's fine by me, Easley and his toady Bev Perdue left about 20 years worth of messes to clean up.
