Obama Demagoguery Supplemented By A Touch Of Cruelty
Commentary Mag ^ | 2-27-13 | Peter Wehner

In the Great Sequestration Debate, here’s what we know: (a) The president has patrimony of an idea he now characterizes as a brutal and senseless assault on America. (b) The president and his then-chief of staff, Jack Lew, misled the public about their role in giving birth to the sequester idea. (c) House Republicans have twice passed legislation to avoid the sequester cuts with carefully targeted ones, but Senate Democrats refused to act. (d) Mr. Obama has brushed off a Republican plan to give him flexibility to allocate the $85 billion in spending cuts, which makes no sense if the president wants to replace reckless cuts with responsible ones.

Whatever one thinks about the merits of cutting $85 billion out of an almost $3.6 trillion budget, the effort to portray the cuts as ushering in days of tribulation, distress and anguish, of trouble and ruin, of darkness and gloom is–how to put this?–insane.

I would have dedicated several paragraphs here on Obama's releasing en masse of a criminal class of border violaters on the streets to sew chaos among our citizenry (whom he's constitutionally sworn to protect), and possibly worse. That'll be on his administration. His brainchild and he fervently unleashed it, and now, judging his demeanor, seems to relish the potential woeful consequences.

However my confidence that-- apparently just over half the population and nearly all media and major instituions-- will hold him accountable isn't quite high. But that Bob Woodward is sounding an alarm might be meaningful. We'll see.

I hope someone keeps a log of all the “Obama-Drama” dirty tricks that the White House will play on us innocent Americans to try to make us hate the GOP.

For starters:

Release jailed criminals? Obama-drama!
Create long lines at airports? Obama-drama!
Stop inspecting food? Obama-drama!
Forget to mail Granny’s Social Security check? Obama-drama!

ad nauseum....

Even if not getting his way wouldn’t hurt people,

he’s going to make sure it DOES hurt people when he doesn’t get everything he wants.

This release of criminals is a trial balloon.
He’s going to release violent criminals when the economy crashes, be prepared for it.

I did some quick math. In 2008, the federal government spent $8,900 for every man, woman and child in this country. Last year they spent $10,200. (I used constant 2005 dollars). In 2008 we were able to house criminals, inoculate children, control air traffic and do a million and one sundry other things. Today, according to Obama, we will unleash financial Armageddon if we just slow down the increase a couple of percent. We are spending 15% more and deescalating two wars, and we can’t manage to provide necessary services? I think we need better managers here.

Yes, but we know Obama’s strategy here is to expand govt control/power and advance his ideology of social justice; he's feeling awfully cocky these days and believes he can leverage his manufactured crisis (which he blames on R's) to speed up the process. Not only do we need better managers we need different political animals altogether. Being inept is part of the job description for most of our representatives. We can't fix that.

I reject that word, cruelty.
It implies the victim gives a **** about the perp.

Naked meanness and evil, are more appropriate. And it inspires a drive towards total resistance.
