International affairs can be complicated, but sometimes a case comes along thats so simple its almost absurd. In 2010, the United Nations made a horrendous mistake that, so far, has claimed more than 8,000 lives. Its officials tried to cover it up. When the evidence came out anyway, lawyers for victims families petitioned the U.N. to end the crisis, pay damages, and apologize. For a year and a half, the worlds leading humanitarian organization said nothing. Then, last week, it threw out the case, saying, The claims are not receivable. The background should be well-known by now. But despite the fact that American taxpayers have footed the lions share of the bill for the U.N. peacekeepers responsible for this disasterto the tune of roughly $1.5 billion since 2004the story remains largely unknown in the United States.

And how many Haitian children have been molested by UN workers....The Catholic Church has nothing on the UN in that area, but of course, you never hear about that.
Liberal Response: The UN means well. Let’s look at their good works rather than the other 90% of what they do.
Some members of the Army Special Forces were in open rebellion with the Clinton administration in Haiti, I wonder if any freepers have knowledgeable input on that, or expertise in Haiti affairs.
Special Forces got an earful from Haitians who were insensed with Clinton’s embargo that destroyed their economy and his insistence that they reinstate an overthrown Marxist dictator. The generals who with Carter’s help were thrown off the island were true patriots in every sense. Clinton insured the absolute destruction of the economy, the government and the welfare of the people. Clinton remains even today the most hated man in Haiti.
Send food to Haiti = Putting Haitian farmers out of business
Send doctors to Haiti = Putting Haitian doctors out of business
Aid should be about rebuilding the infrastructure so that the professionals in the country don’t go out of business, not just dumping food and other supplies on them.....to do so only perpetuates the cycle of dependency, it’s no different than welfare.
The reports from the renegade SF underground was that some SF were actually arming or refusing to disarm, some Haitians that they were supposed to be disarming.
This is interesting to me to learn that Clinton is still hated there, it sounds like SF was correct.
