I never could understand why they named Ft. Hood after possibly the worst general in the Confederacy.

When I returned from RVN in 1968 I was assigned to a frequency monitoring station out in the middle of the desert monitoring radio freqs for NASA’s Apollo flight communications. My new wife and I lived on base housing that was rumored to be the officers housing from the cavalry days, one of the bedrooms in the house had a pull up trapdoor in it.
What a place.
