I never could understand why they named Ft. Hood after possibly the worst general in the Confederacy.

He may have even been the worst of either side.

Boy, that is an end to an era! Was STRATCOM in Tehran (72-74) but missed out on being assigned to the 11th Silly Group instead going to the luxurious accommodations with USAEPG.

Remember fondly my stint at Radio School (05B20) November 1967 at good old Fort Hoochy Coochie.

When I returned from RVN in 1968 I was assigned to a frequency monitoring station out in the middle of the desert monitoring radio freqs for NASA’s Apollo flight communications. My new wife and I lived on base housing that was rumored to be the officers housing from the cavalry days, one of the bedrooms in the house had a pull up trapdoor in it.

What a place.
