John Boehner: Let Senate get 'off their ass' this time By: Jake Sherman February 26, 2013 09:45 AM EST
House Speaker John Boehner told Republicans in a closed-door meeting Tuesday that the House doesnt need to pass a third sequester replacement bill before the Senate gets off their ass and passes it once.
Its a familiar refrain from the Ohio Republican, who has consistently criticized the Senate for failing to act to blunt the sequester. The call for the Senate to move legislation came at a meeting at the Capitol Hill club.
Its time for the Senate to act, Boehner said during a media availability after the meeting. Its not about the House. Weve acted. Wheres the presidents plan to avoid the sequester? Have you seen one? I havent seen one. All Ive heard is he wants to raise taxes again. Wheres the presidents plan? Wheres the Senate Democrats plan? I want to see it.
President Barack Obama plans to travel to Newport News, Va., on Tuesday to highlight the effect of the sequester on the military. He will be accompanied by several lawmakers, including Virgina GOP Rep. Scott Rigell.
House Republicans passed their plan to replace sequester cuts with cuts of their own in the 112th Congress, rendering it useless during this session. Boehner said his chamber will be prepared to move quickly if the Senate passes a bill.
Action in the upper chamber is coming. The Senate will vote on dueling plans this week designed to stave off the $85 billion, across-the-board spending cuts known that are set to take effect on Friday.
Senate Democrats plan to take up a bill that will replace the sequester with a mix of spending cuts and revenue, mostly garnered from a minimum 30 percent tax on millionaires....

Good for John Boehner.
Did Boehner say that before or after his golf game with Obama?
Luky isn’t the real world.
In the real world, people FINALLY have enough of the B.S.
Even a dolt can see that Obama’s scare tactics aren’t working this time around.
I applaud the Republicans for standing their ground.
This is fantastic. In one thread I have the perfect example of GOP denial to point to in the future.
Refuses to answer questions
Denies premise
Claims of lying
“Turd party” comment when people won’t accept cave ins as acceptable.
PERFECT. You have my eternal gratitude. And as another poster on this thread will tell you, I always make good use of these examples.
Sure. I will too. If they go through with standing their ground.
Not got my hopes up.
This man will kill what remains of the GOP.
These cuts will hurt, and be blamed, on the GOP. You don’t play this kind of game when the other side controls the media.
Idiots.
Knock yourself out. You have the same m.o. as another turd party troll around here who fancies him/her/itself as a clever obfuscator, too. Meanwhile, just like him/her/it, you whine and moan and cry but NEVER answer a direct question with a direct answer, NEVER say what your plan of action would be, and NEVER have anything positive to say. I am calling you out as a troll. You will receive no more replies from me.
Have a nice life, Bunky.
What a joke.
You really thin DU defends Boehner in the slightest. LOL. How naive.
Au contraire...you're the one who sounds EXACTLY like DU! Go over there and join in the Boehner bashing. You'll feel at home. They sound JUST like you.
Odd that as I reread your posts, you are demonstrably guilty of each and every thing you just accused me of.
Hope people check your posts and see the hypocrisy for themselves.
And again, I would direct readers to your post history before any decision to take you at face value.
But you can just keep pretending I'm some kind of DU troll which is so laughable because it's YOU and the DU'ers are saying the same stuff about Boehner.
Your MO and the commie DU'ers is EXACTLY the same on this...you'll feel right at home.
>> Havent we been down this road? Rep Weepy talks all tough prior to the cave in? So predictable.
Yes, we have.

Another GOP sellout to add to your denial list Sparky.
Oh and the list of 80 GOPers that sent their approval for gay marriage to the USSC....
And that’s just today.
tell Captain Caveman I said hi.
Quit funding Obamacare and other unconstitutional bull crap, Bonehead.
As far as losing his Speakership, if Repubs couldn't even muster 16 "No" votes against him being re-elected as Speaker, there is no way that Repubs will ever vote him out. Too many spineless Repubs who are equally scared of 0dumb0 & the leftist-marxist media.
I may not agree with you on all points, and I still think that Boehner is completely inept as well as scared stiff of 0bama... but you did write a good posting with solid comments IMO.
They are basically one and the same. And yep, too many Republicans run like scared bunny rabbits.
And who in the world in Captain Caveman? You just keep yelling into your little echo chamber, DU-buddy. I'm glad you can keep yourself company.
The thread article was basically a positive message, and I can use a positive message coming from Republicans once in awhile. That's why when one comment after another was negative, naysaying, and relentless bashing, I got the urge to step in with something hopeful, positive. Believe me, I am at least as cynical as anybody else who posted on this thread. It will not surprise me in the slightest if Boehner caves - - in which case I will toast him like a marshmallow on this forum and elsewhere.
That said, I am going to try to keep a positive outlook and give credit where credit is due. Lately, Boehner has been saying the right things and taking a strong stand. It's nice to see. I will wait and see the outcome before I start swiping. God knows, these people need encouragement.
FRegards,
LH
