John Boehner: Let Senate get 'off their ass' this time By: Jake Sherman February 26, 2013 09:45 AM EST

House Speaker John Boehner told Republicans in a closed-door meeting Tuesday that the House doesn’t need to pass a third sequester replacement bill before the “Senate gets off their ass and passes it once.”

It’s a familiar refrain from the Ohio Republican, who has consistently criticized the Senate for failing to act to blunt the sequester. The call for the Senate to move legislation came at a meeting at the Capitol Hill club.

“It’s time for the Senate to act,” Boehner said during a media availability after the meeting. “It’s not about the House. We’ve acted. Where’s the president’s plan to avoid the sequester? Have you seen one? I haven’t seen one. All I’ve heard is he wants to raise taxes again. Where’s the president’s plan? Where’s the Senate Democrats’ plan? I want to see it.”

President Barack Obama plans to travel to Newport News, Va., on Tuesday to highlight the effect of the sequester on the military. He will be accompanied by several lawmakers, including Virgina GOP Rep. Scott Rigell.

House Republicans passed their plan to replace sequester cuts with cuts of their own in the 112th Congress, rendering it useless during this session. Boehner said his chamber will “be prepared to move quickly” if the Senate passes a bill.

Action in the upper chamber is coming. The Senate will vote on dueling plans this week designed to stave off the $85 billion, across-the-board spending cuts known that are set to take effect on Friday.

Senate Democrats plan to take up a bill that will replace the sequester with a mix of spending cuts and revenue, mostly garnered from a minimum 30 percent tax on millionaires....

Obama’s current fear is that sequestration kicks in on March 1 and life goes on as we all know it. No delays at the airports, no terrorist attacks, no big dive in the markets, no kids starving, no old people not getting health care.

There’s only so many times Obama can cry wolf before people just start to ignore his whining. Most already do.

The House has acted. We are disappointed that Senate majority leader Harry Reid and the President STILL have not come up with their plans

Boehner has said this many times.

But now finally it's getting through the MSM filter more so you can hear it.

Oh... for starters, how about MULTIPLE continuing resolutions to keep the Dems from passing a budget? Talk your way out of those individually. Then I’ll post more things for you to pretend never happened.

Astonishingly, the Republicans are now in a position where they have not only made the Bush tax cuts permanent for nearly everybody, but they can make the solid case, as Mitch McConnell already did, that the "debate over taxes is behind us now".

Correct. Boehner's words are finally resonating because Obama's harping on tax hikes doesn't carry the heft it once did.

“In other words, your question is based on the premise that Boehner routinely caves”

Routinely is a nice way of putting it. I would say “always.” More direct.

They didn't keep the Dems from doing anything.

The Dems would have sat on their hands regardless because they knew the media would blame the House whatever the scenario was.

President Barack Obama plans to travel to ___________________________(fill in the blank)

Disgusting man. He can’t smoke his cigarettes in the WH and he’s too lazy to do his job.

LOL! That's all you got? Gee, continuing resolutions are something new, invented by Boehner.

So you can’t address that either.
Got it. Everyone else does too.

I would once again direct people to read your post history to see for themselves the extremes of denial you regularly go to in defense of Bhoner and the GOP. Debating you is no different than debating any other DU type.

So I’ll let your past posts and our past go-rounds speak for themselves.

The only thing I've seen from the House is the Bush tax cuts made permanent for nearly everybody. Considering the rats hold the White House and the Senate, I'll take it. But you can continue to wring your hands and whine, "Boehner sucks, woe is me", if that makes you happy. As for me, I'll wait until the rats actually win something significant before I break out the tar and feathers.

FRegards,
LH

Still not addressing any of the issues but thanks for bringing another up.

The position was NO increase/reversion. But they caved and gave up the evil rich to the dems.

Fail on your part Lance. And theirs. Or were you sick all those days weeks and months that FR was screaming to the heavens about each and every one of these and other issues they caved on? First warning them NOT to cave, then Bitching each and every time they did???

Musta been a hell of a cold you had all those times...

LMBO!!
Stop your whining. It's embarrassing.

The position was NO increase/reversion. But they caved and gave up the evil rich to the dems.

That's a lie. (Do you have reading comprehension issues?) Try reading post #16 again. Slower this time, if in fact you actually read it the first time.

You claim its a lie so prove it. Prove to us all the GOP position was always a tax increase on the rich. You want to call me a liar? Prove I am a liar.

You came up with routine "continuing resolutions" and the lying "gave up the evil rich" examples... Do you have anything solid, or real, that the House Republicans have caved on in the face of a rat White House, AND a rat Senate, AND a rat "mainstream" news media? Anything?

The only reason he wants them to get off their collective asses is so that it becomes easier for him to show his master, the POS in the WH, which ass he is kissing. Does he he think the would be boy king will get jealous and want his ass kissed as good as it was during the first debt ceiling debacle or during the fiscal cliff fiasco? Seems like the only thing left for Bonehead to do is the sequester suck. And my money is on the Spelunker of the House being more than willing to accommodate.

Lets see. No defense for the CR caves we all saw happen. Just denial. No defense for the cave on the Rich/taxes which we all saw happen. No proof that what we all saw happen was a lie.

And “I” am embarrassing myself? I can’t wait to bring this thread up every time you pop up apologizing for the GOP.

If you are saying the GOP increased taxes on the rich, or on anybody, then you are a brazen liar. I see you STILL haven’t bothered to read post #16 because if you did, you would reply that you weren’t lying, you were just ignorant. So either read it and I’ll accept your apology, or take a hike. But please don’t post to me again until you do at least a couple minutes of homework. If indeed your problem is a reading comprehension issue, I can’t help you with that.

I wouldn’t go without food or water waiting for an apology if I were you.

Deal with it. You got caught being a full shill for the GOP. Thats fine. Just not conservative. Actually no. Your mentality gave us what we have today. So choke on it.
