To put this in perspective: $85 billion (85 + 9 zeros) vs. $16 trillion debt (16 + 12 zeros) and represents 0.005 percent. That's chump change, Speaker Boehner. Bonehead hasn't earned his reputation as a drunken, blubbering, cave-at-all-costs dolt for obvious reasons.

85 billion is what % of the 4 or 5 trillion $ federal gov budget?

And the news media is making this seem like Armageddon( same as with the other fake crisis the “fiscal cliff”)

the media and democrats/obama won't even compromise on these small cuts.

We don't need a few % points cut in spending we need to abolish government agencies starting with the EPA

look even if we had 25% across the board cuts, a trillion$ per year, although good won't do as good as completely and forever eliminating the EPA ( and the laws that authorize it). while EPA budge is only a few billion the damage that the EPA does to the energy sector, oil drilling, fracking, coal power plants , nuclear power plant development etc. is very damaging to the economy. if the U.S. is able to provide cheap energy that will lower gasoline prices, energy prices for businesses and people etc.

We need to start talking about eliminating agencies and laws not cutting a few % points which we never get anyway

1/2 percent — your figure is just the division.
