Karzai orders US special forces out of Afghan province
BBC News ^ | 24th February 2013 | BBC News

'The Afghan president has ordered US special forces to leave Wardak province within two weeks over allegations of disappearances and torture.

The measures were being taken due to the actions of Afghans considered to be part of US special forces, said a spokesman for Hamid Karzai.

The strategically significant, central province of Wardak has been the recent focus of counter-insurgency operations.

A US spokesman said it took all allegations of misconduct seriously.'

Time to go, that hell hole is not worth one more soldier dying for.

Absolutely agree! But, as we're leaving, I'd turn it into glass!

For many years, a long time ago, I used to read anything Russian, while I don’t remember the fancy ways of saying it, there is something tragic and romantic in the Russian people, but they are also savage, backwards, primitive, dark and inward looking, there is nothing inspirational and uplifting in them, they are the opposite of the old Protestant American spirit of the past, they don’t even come close to Western Europe in being positive and charitable and forward looking.

Russians are those crabs in the box that Rush Limbaugh talks about, and always have been.

Can’t have dry feet silly ...., albeit I concur with your point . We need “wet work” now more than ever ..... There and here.

Infrastructure for America is on its knees in my arena.... Lots of improvising, robbing Peter to pay Paul and total disregard for proper channels. Red tape is being ignored as we trade paper clips for Helicopters per se.... It’s not “gonna” happen..... It’s happening now.

My experience vs my opinion.... First hand, first person report.

Stay safe. !

In retrospect we should’ve aided the Soviets in the 1980s, rather than countered them.

Really? We supported the mujaheddin through the Pakistani ISI, who later formed and bankrolled the Taliban after the Soviets pulled out. We still bankroll the Pakistani regime and ISI.

'The Afghan president has ordered US special forces to leave Wardak province ~.

Does that bipolar SOB (Karzai) even realize that US security contractors have been the only thing keeping him alive? He's a puppet. We own him.

McCain went just short of wanting to Nuke Belgrade

He was cheerleading to get involved in the Libyan mess as well. Clowns like him who find justification for getting involved in every conflict are leading us down the path to our destruction.

George Washington would probably step outside his rules of civility and publicly humiliate him. On the other hand, the British would have offered him a better deal so he would have been a loyalist and their problem.

Karzai will be kissing the azz of the ISI and Iranians as soon as we leave.

The Rules of Engagement are contrary to winning and sacrifice our boys.

Have a proxy kill Karzai.
Destroy the opium fields with military grade microbes.
Leave in 2 weeks.

I remember reading General Bob Scales’ book “Firepower in Limited War” some years back. In it, he had an excellent analysis of the Soviet War in Afghanistan. The thing that sticks in my mind most is how little difference there was between how the Afghanis behaved then and how they act now.

The Soviets came as conquerors, and found their allies in Kabul to be double-dealing, corrupt, and thoroughly incapable of governance. The U.S. came as a liberator and nation-builder, and found the same duplicity and ineffectiveness. The Soviets found their supposed allies in the field to be unenthusiastic at best, sympathetic to (or even openly supportive of) the enemy at worst. How many stories have we seen now of U.S. servicemen or civilian aid workers murdered by supposedly friendly Afghans?

Enough is enough. Bin Laden is dead and nation-building there is a waste. I’m sorry for the minority of Afghanis who really do like us and appreciate our help, but we’ve done all we can. It’s time to go.

The joke... and a very sick one... is the notion something good will some emerge from that unending quagmire our troops are being forced to slog through.

America got screwed again, with the U.S. government spending multiple trillions fighting their compassionate wars, thousands of Americans dead....a looted American treasure....We won nothing but a broken bankrupt economy and more foreign policy corruption and chaos.

Time to go, that hell hole is not worth one more soldier dying for.

Too late...Bush's bull cheet "compassionate wars" cost America multiple trillions of dollars...It looted our national treasure...And laid waste to thousands of our brothers.

The founders warned us repeatedly about country killing nation building, foreign intrusion and foreign entanglements. The results of this corruption and foreign policy perversion can be seen all over the U.S. in the form of a crushed economy and a declining standard of living.

I am not saying the UK dosent a problem with (a minority) of UK Muslims, but I get angry at the usual ‘the UK is a dhimmi and conquered nation’ stuff that I read on here. 99% from people who have never been to the UK, and just believe what FR, Rush, rightwing radio and Fox tells them. Much of it is not only wrong, but hysterical.

That's a post from the Scotsman from earlier today, giving us an idea of what he thinks of all our right-wing, wrong-headed and hysterical commentary is worth.

What I don't understand is why he would post a story like this for our comment--notice that he hasn't offered any--when he so clearly scorns our opinions on such matters.

Unless he's simply trolling, of course.

Lets withdraw everybody and let that the barbarians go back to fighting among themselves.

Afghans want us to withdraw? We should take a page from Zenophon the Athenian on withdrawl R.O.E.s. Lay such a path of destruction in our wake that a thousand, no two thousand years from now, Afghan mothers will terrorize their recalcetrant children with the admonition, ""Behave, or I'll turn you over to the Americans."
