Labor, business agree to principles on immigration
Associated Press ^ | Thu, Feb 21, 2013 | ERICA WERNER

Business and labor groups announced agreement Thursday on the principles of a new system to bring lower-skilled workers to the U.S, a key priority for a comprehensive immigration bill.

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the AFL-CIO reached consensus after weeks of closed-doors negotiations they were conducting at the request of Sens. Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., and Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., two of the senators involved in crafting an immigration deal on Capitol Hill. Ensuring that future workers can come to the U.S. legally is expected to be a central element of the deal, which will also address border security, employer verification and a pathway to citizenship for the 11 million illegal immigrants in the U.S.

The principles announced Thursday include agreement on the need for a way to let businesses more easily hire foreign workers when Americans aren't available to fill jobs. This will require a new kind of worker visa program that does not keep all workers in a permanent temporary status and responds as the U.S. economy grows and shrinks, the groups said in a joint news release.

They also said they see the need for a new professional bureau housed within a federal executive agency and tasked with informing Congress and the public about labor market needs and shortages. That addresses a key demand from the labor side for a more transparent and data-driven process about business' needs for workers.

Senators in Immigration Talks Mull Federal IDs for All Workers
The Wall Street Journal ^ | February 20, 2013, 7:47 p.m. ET | DANNY YADRON

"Key senators are exploring an immigration bill that would force every U.S. worker—citizen or not—to carry a high-tech identity card that could use fingerprints or other personal markers to prove a person's legal eligibility to work."

snip

But at least five of the eight senators writing the bill have backed biometric ID cards in the past. At least three of them—Sens. Lindsey Graham (R., S.C.), John McCain (R., Ariz.) and Charles Schumer (D., N.Y.)—have said they support requiring the cards under the new law but are open to other options, aides say."

Corporate America wants the benefit of cheap labor from these immigrants but they don't want to pay the burden of compliance and/or legal sanctions or fines government imposes upon it.

So not only are you to suffer the lowering of your standard of living due to the glut of cheap labor(supply/demand)entering this country, you are to bear the burden for the compliance of the business use of that cheap labor as well.

Add to that a justification and means for more government to be more "efficient" in their doling out of benefits to the masses that seems reasonable to those masses.

Add to that our worldly masters intention of managing (controlling) the useful eaters and the useless eaters.

So, we have companies that want cheap labor, colluding with unions that want union dues from that cheap labor. What could go wrong? And anyway, who elected these clowns to decide on immigration policy?

when Americans aren't available to fill jobs.<<

yeah...... all the millions of unemployed low-skilled low-informed Americans would be crazy to leave the welfare rolls to go to work and receive a pay cut......They need more Mexicans working and paying taxes to keep them in the lifestyle they've grown accustom to....

The federal government admits there are at least 12 million Americans out of work (not counting the millions of chronic unemployed they just write off).

There are almost 48 million Americans on Food Stamps.

There are over 100 million Americans on Welfare.

We already have at least 12 million to 30 million illegals here.

So why the heck do we need to bring in more foreign workers, many of whom will end up staying here illegally?

Stop paying Americans to not work and invest the money in matching up the unemployed with the work available.

“Corporate America” might want people who will work for less money but the commie unions have a surprise waiting for them. The unions will force these people who are willing to do the jobs that Americans are too good to do into their unions. This isn’t going to turn out good for everyone involved.

“Ensuring that future workers can come to the U.S. legally is expected to be a central element of the deal,”

We’re all supposed to pretend that we don’t know what they really mean: “future workers”=future Democrats/union members.

“Gun control” is a Trojan horse. This issue of a lawless government is going to explode soon. Keep your powder dry!
