Rahm's Approval Rating: 19%

And only 2% 'strongly approve' of Chicago mayor

(Newser) – Maybe it's a good thing Rahm Emanuel is reportedly considering a presidential run—because he isn't doing so hot in Chicago. The mayor's approval rating has plummeted so far it's within spitting distance of Congress, according to a new Crain's/Ipsos poll, which showed only 19% of respondents approving of or even leaning toward approving of the job he's doing—and only 2% of Chicagoans strongly approving—while 50% at least lean toward disapproval.

That's a big fall from September, when the public was roughly split, with 34% approving and 33% disapproving. Crain's speculates that Emanuel may be paying the price for butting heads with the Chicago Teachers Union. It also notes that he's doing better in Chicago proper than in suburban and downstate areas, giving him the opposite profile of predecessor Richard Daley.

Just wait till he's indicted!

Trouble is.... Being in Chicgao and all - I don't know if being charged with a crime will hurt or help his ratings.

This means nothing. If the election were held tomorrow, he would win in a landslide.

It’s not up to the voters, it’s up to the Mob.

Apparently they got tired of Daley. They’ll throw Rahm to the fishes if they get tired of him. Till then, he’s good.

He’ll still get 110% of any vote for any office he chooses.

“My missing middle finger? I lost it manning an IDF tank in the Negev...”

No he didn’t —he cut it off in a meat-slicer while working a summer job at ARBY’S.

I’m serious.

The good news: Rahm’s Approval Rating is at 19%.

The bad news: Rahm will be reelected with 101% of the vote.

Approval at 19%! I’m shocked that it’s that high. The boy is a slug.

Will a conservative run for mayor of Chicago, in 2015? I hope that Dan Schmitt or John Garrido will run.

Wow - he’ll get only seventy-five percent of the vote in his reelection effort, what with being a ‘rat in the big city and all....
