Further, take a look at the Senate members. How many Republican Senators can you identify that are conservatives? How many are RINOs (almost all).
The GOPe did NOT want Reagan because they thought he was radical - even after he served as a Governor. The people however, liked him and got to know him through movies and took him seriously because of his daily radio broadcasts.
Until you field another Reagan quality candidate that is likeable, experienced and a good communicator, good luck. The ones who go to serve in DC tend to go native pretty fast.
I think Jeb Bush would be a great President. He won’t be perfect, but certainly better than what we have, and better than Hillary or Bill Clinton.
Pee Wee Herman would be better than what we have. That doesn’t mean he should be president.

If Jim DeMint uses his new time and the outreach ability of Heritage Foundation to immediately launch a massive new media effort to enlighten the minds of citizens on the ideas of liberty underlying their Declaration and Constitution, then, perhaps by 2016, he could be recognized as an intellectual leader in the mold of President Washington or President Jefferson.
Those ideas, if presented as principles-oriented supports for individual liberty and opportunity for every citizen, have an appeal to the gift of reason which the Creator has made a part of our nature, as the Founders recognized.
President Reagan tapped into such an appeal, and the people responded; but, then, Ronald Reagan had studied and developed an understanding of the ideas for himself. As a result, he could articulate them in the language of the day.
A candidate who simply recites trite phrases about "private sector" versus "public sector," "helping the 'middle' class" (the Founders didn't recognize 'class'--that's a "progressive" idea), and "capitalism" versus "socialism" will never enlighten the minds of citizens who, for decades, have not been exposed to the "self-evident" truths embodied in the Declaration of Independence.
The counterfeit ideas of "progressives" never can stand exposure to the authentic ideas of freedom, as presented to the world in 1776. The problem today is presenting a clear view of the "idea that changed the world."

Unfortunately there's too many people looking for perfect. One wrong statement and a candidate goes to the "RINO" list. Nobody can live up to that measure.
Jeb Bush is just saying he'd work closely with the Senate to get things done. Unlike Obama who is completely disengaged.

Did you not watch the votes at the convention last year??? Yes!
You are living in a pipe dream Grandma. RINOe’s closed the barn door to eliminate challenges at the convention.
They control the apparatus.
They systematically tanked every conservative in the game.
They went before cameras to cast doubt and accusation.
If there was a way for you to do it, they would be closing that loophole now to prevent it.
You NEVER change a bureaucracy from the inside. All they care about is their control of money and power. The only way to do that is to threaten to take away either or both from the outside.
Choke off their money supply and send it to actual conservatives, as Sen. DeMint did. Oppose the RINOs at every turn. Support their primary opponents. And even then, 8 out of 10 people you send to DC will go native.

I agree whole completely. I know that I will get piled-on for thinking or openly admitting that I believe Jeb Bush should run. However, he was a capable Govenor. I loved both his father and George W. they love the U.S.A. and protected this country well. I just don’t believe the next Reagan is on the horizon. If he is, I won’t support Jeb in spite of him.
That's not to say that senators or representatives make good presidents. They usually don't. A president needs administrative experience.
But the experience of a new president negotiating with Congress for the first time often is not a pretty one. It was like that with Bush's brother. What Obama's excuse is, I don't know.
I don't think inexperience will be a problem with Jeb. Not only was he a Gov in one of the most contentious and populous states, he's been steeped in politics and congressional dynamics all his life. He knows the ropes.
Someone tell him that we don’t need another LBJ. I despise LBJ’s policies because it brought about a lot of the welfare system that we have today. NO, Jeb Bush!

What have the ‘Ivy League’ given us that makes them SO much better than your drinking buddy?
I’d bet Paul or your buddy would know how to balance a budget, think twice before committing our troops into battle, secure our borders, etc.
On the other hand, the Ivy guys only seem to be one-world gov’t types who know how to get us into more mess, nose into EVERYONE’s business and try to run the U.S./World by some quack theory they learned in college.
The office of President, by Constitutional standards, is a figure-head position. No real power outside of CiC and veto.
Yes, I answered my own rhetorical question by bringing up the Constitution. We the People have allowed all this to go down. IMHO, we’re too far down the Fall of the Republic; we are a Banana American Idol Republic, to think that some poor slub would allow themselves to be torn apart on TV to try to turn back the tide. It sure isn’t the President or the Congress whom are tasked with securing our Rights and Liberties!

Simply this. The Clintons and the Bushs are rabid Statists. We expect our enemies to be against Liberty. But, when it's supposedly one of our own, it's much more grievous and cruel to our conscience.

Former Florida Governor Jeb Bush said he would strive to be like Lyndon Johnson, the Democrat famous for expanding the U.S. welfare state through the "Great Society," if he were elected president.
According to the Miami Herald, Bush made those comments Wednesday night in San Antonio, Florida at Saint Leo University, while speaking about education, immigration, and energy policy.
Bush did not address Johnson's Great Society and War on Poverty programs, about which Ronald Reagan once famously quipped, "We had a war on poverty, and poverty won."

Well why not? Practically every leader in the Republican Party defends the centerpiece programs of the New Deal and the Great Society as fiercely as any Democrat.

If conservatives had become involved in a mass, organized effort after the 2008 presidential debacle and actually tried to take over the party apparatus, we could have had control over the convention. Instead, too many just went to Tea Party rallies or contributed money to a politician or sat around complaining about the state of the party and country. That’s not cutting it. We need to get involved, kick out the RINOs, and change the party rules to favor conservatives.
I know this goes against the way we conservatives like to think of ourselves, as not needing a leader....but the fact is, it will take a charismatic leader for people to rally around, if we are going to make any serious headway. And the fact is, there are no such people in the GOP these days....it’s not just about being right on the issues, it is having the political savvy and the charisma, to attract people, and even convert those who don’t necessarily agree with everything.....That’s what Reagan did.

I’ve come to see that EVERY PROBLEM in Washington, DC is there because BOTH parties want it that way.
Republicans just want to see the move to socialism move more slowly.
Republicans have put us into debt with continual war, expansion of social programs and government, and borrowing like crazy.
Republicans are beholden to special interests, who give generously and expect a return.
Democrats want us to become the Sweden from 1960, which has been renounced by Sweden. Sweden is doing quite well now, after reigning in the size of government.
