I thought this was a John Semmens satire, alas it is not.

Is the Army going to add a new military occupational specialty (MOS), i.e., company or platoon pump?

Actually, if anything it will increase sexual assaults. When you have two people of opposite sex sleeping in a foxhole together, you will inevitably have increases in both consensual and non-consensual sex. I’m not even saying it will be rape in the classic sense. It will create many more opportunities for close quarters “misunderstandings” which can lead to non-consensual sex. For example, if a female soldier is pressing against a male soldier while she’s sleeping. Remember, in many cases these people are still teenagers little/no experienced with interpreting the opposite sex.

And, lets face it, if you have 20 guys and 4 women in a close-knit group, there will be tension and competition among the guys for those women. Especially true if you are dealing with single people under 25.

Seems to me that there were a couple of females at the center of that whole Abu Grave mess in Iraq and they weren’t victims. Hell the commanding officer was a female.

A polite society is a fully armed society. Just keep the firearms out of the paws of the squirrels, rabbits, and deer. I’ll trust my dog though.

It further reduces women and men to interchangeable cogs.

I’ve never had less respect for a female soldier than when a) she is clearly in over her head and insists that she’s up to the task,
b) I’m carrying her ruck and rifle because it’s just “too heavy”,
c) a man is performing her job without the benefit of her rank or pay because she is once again undeployable because of pregnancy or “female problems”.

One week of this shit in combat units and these women will earn the wrath of ever soldier in their unit.

"Women in combat units: Could it reduce sexual assault in the military?"

Thus lays to rest the notion that, "There's no such thing as a stupid question."

Women in combat units: Could it reduce sexual assault in the military?

Women in combat units: Could it reduce reports of sexual assault in the military?

There, fixed it.

In a tightly nit platoon/unit women who are sexually assaulted might also be less inclined to report such an assault due to the close proximity to the rest of the unit for fear of "in the field" reprisals.
Accidents happen, as it were.

And if there are problems with hazing now (it still happens despite efforts to end it) what will it be like when women are involved.
It's a situation rife for such allegations as well as actual abuse.

Idiots are in charge...IMHO.

No!

I can tell you right now the Answer is no.

The Military (and especially the air force) has an epidemic right now of Sexual Misconduct.

There are many fine Female Airmen out there, but I am just gonna say it.

The Air Force has the largest Numbers of Females in the Military,I think it is like 23% of the Air Force are girls.

Make no mistake why the A.F. has the most number of sexual assaults. The more girls their are around the more chance for unscrupulous men to prey on them.

This will only make things worse.

Like Most liberal Causes the "fix" is designed to weaken their intended target.

Women in combat units: Will it result in mission failure?

Men who are superb in combat often have a powerful instinctual impulse to protect women who they perceive are at risk, even at the risk of their own lives.

While there are many men more than willing to send women into combat to draw fire, these men are not particularly good warriors. But those who excel at fighting are often paralyzed if they see females at risk.

In past, efforts were made to make a thornless blackberry bush, but it was soon discovered that flavor and sweetness in blackberries comes from the same genetic pattern that creates thorns. You cannot have one without the other.

A real warrior in combat is worth a hundred ordinary men who have been trained to be soldiers. In a fight, he will best them. Unless there is a woman present who is at risk.

The socialist left are convinced beyond argument that women are exactly the same as men and can do all the things men can do. They are so sure of their religious doctrines that they would accept enormous numbers of casualties and killed, of men and women, and the failure of the military mission, not to prove that they are right, but just to prove that they set the rules.

Once failure was blindingly obvious, they would then blame it on lack of funding, or sabotage by their opponents, or that not enough women were in combat. All lame and disgusting rationalizations.

Especially when the reality is grievous injury and death, and failure of the military mission.

They eventually forced through their equally beloved socialized medicine, Obamacare, and though it is also a murderous failure, they do not care. They just do not care, because human life means nothing to them, as long as all must obey their religious faith.

As A female who has been in the military, a female has more to worry about from lesbians than men.

Gen. Martin Dempsey, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, says that he is hopeful that making the combat roles of women official will create a greater environment of respect for women, which in turn may have an impact on instances of sexual harassment and assault.

“I believe it's because we've had separate classes of military personnel, at some level,” he said at a press conference Thursday.

It is sad that the decision makers responsible for such incredibly stupid policies are not punished somehow when the nonsensical policies fail as predicted.

This has never worked in the history of mankind. Just because some fool with power and with a warped and twisted notion of a "perfect" society, will not make it happen. Men and women are not interchangeable, as the feminists declare. Too bad the fools will get away without punishment.

“I have to believe, the more we can treat people equally, the more likely they are to treat each other equally.”

Really, General? Then let's expand on that belief. As a soldier, I want to be equal to you. I want all your perks and authority and the same pay you receive. After all, that's fair and equal. Also, I want to wear all of the same skill badges and awards that some of the other soldiers wear that earned them, because, after all, that's fair and equal. I want to sit in and bark commands from the M1A2 TC seat and be the PC back seater in the AH-64D regardless of my competency level, because those too, would be fair and equal.
