I’m ex-military and have been around guns my whole life. My wife on the other hand hates them. So out of respect for her intolerance, I never brought any into our home for the first 15 years of marriage.
Now it’s her turn to get OK with what I feel are necessary preparations. We’ve had some difficult discussions, as I will not hide them from her and want to be honest.
She will not touch them, nor will she educate herself by going to the range with me. I tell her it’s a shame to have the tools to protect our children, but not the knowledge needed to do so.
I do think she sees the dark place we’re all heading toward at breakneck speed. Where we differ is on how quickly we’ll arrive, and what arriving means.
Hate to tell you this, but I would suspect divorce may be in your future. I’ve seen where this sort of thing ends up.
In Germany, it resulted in one spouse selling out the other to the Brown Shirts.
“...Im ex-military and have been around guns my whole life...”
No offense intended, brother.
RE Wife/women in general: I have never understood irrational fears of anything, especially firearms, from them.
My wife shoots expert; so do my grown kids. I made sure that they did, because firearms are a part of our world, and always WILL be - despite the best efforts of the fascist democrats and RINOs.
